Default Does anyone know of any stores that still buy dvd/bd?

I don't like selling stuff online. But would like to get rid of a bunch of movies. I used to sell them at EB/Gamestop & Blockbuster. Thanks in advance.

Sunrise Records has a used section, not sure where they get them but I assume it's from people bring them in. If you are thinking of giving them Dollarama and Dollar Tree BDs that probably will not fly.

This question probably belongs more in the Canada sub-forum.

The Beat Goes On buys both DVD's and Blu's. You likely won't get much for the DVD's though, unless they are specialty ones (documentaries, concerts, criterion, etc). They will give you more in trade credit then straight up cash as well (take a look around the store first to see if there's stuff you want to buy). I mainly have experience at the Hamilton and Burlington stores, and they do occasionally put up signs saying that they are currently only trading for credit, but that's hit and miss. Best to call the store first. Your avatar says you're in Toronto... closest location for you would likely be Oakville, or Kitchener (depending on where you are in Toronto). Would really depend on how many movies you're looking to dump as to whether it's worth the drive or not. They're pretty friendly at all of the locations I've ever been to. Give them a call first and I'm sure they could give you a ball park on prices... they won't give you a solid price on the phone without seeing the disc itself (to make sure it's in good shape). Give them a call during "off-peak" hours and I'm sure they'd help you out. Call on a Saturday afternoon when the store is busy and less so.

Good luck.

You can get trade-in credit just like you did at Blockbuster at Blu Ray Bin in Ajax.

I used to sell mine on craigslist and Kijiji but haven't had much luck with that in the last year. BDs got pretty cheap so unless you're willing to sell for $1/$2 it's pretty hard.

As for BGO, give them a call. Personally I was never able to get an estimate over the phone, they always said they needed to see the disc but give it a try.

Selling on Ebay and Amazon will only be worth it if either you have a newer release or a title that cannot easily be found anywhere for cheap. Selling those cheap $5 titles that are everywhere at WM, FS, BB, etc.. will not be worth it.

How does this work? How do you find the page(s) on which to list what you have for sale? Search for "[city name] yard sale"?

Deja Vu Discs buy and sell used movies, music and games; locations in Scarborough, Ajax and Oshawa.

Also Futureshop and BestBuy have been doing somewhat frequent Trade and Save's where you might get the best bang for your buck on crappy dvd titles.

Is Futureshop still buying DVDs in Canada? Stateside, Best Buy stopped doing Upgrade & Save several months ago.

they did a trade and save a couple months ago at bb/fs problem is the set of movies is almost always 98% the same and they might toss in a couple of newer current releases. lame they wont just do what the us bb use to do and be like $5 off any thing 9.99 or more.

But the US BBY Upgrade & Save grew kinda lame also: They would remove some product from shelves during the promotion.

Shhhh... Some in this sub-forum think the US is the mecca of blu-ray deals.

lol.. I had some movies on Kijiji, and some guy asked for a deal.. I told him I'd give him a movie for free if he bought the box set he wanted... he said no, he'd only pay X amount ($30 less than I was asking for both)..... I did however sell off 3 of 4 Breaking Bad Seasons there last week.. that person said she'd buy the last season when she had some extra cash, so its about as good as sold....
