Default Cold In July

Has anybody seen this yet? I watched it the other day at the cinema and really liked it. About on par with this year's Blue Ruin. It's a thriller with elements of horror and noir and stars Michael C Hall (Dexter) the always excellent Sam Shepard and a effortlessly charismatic Don Johnson.

This is a proper bloke's film. One of the themes explored is masculinity and fatherhood, so for you women out there don't expect any Ellen Ripley's. I don't want to say too much about the film for those who haven't seen it as it's certainly one of those the less you know the better type of deals. But I certainly give it the thumbs up. The filmmakers said that this was heavily influenced by early John Carpenter films, and it shows moreso in the music than anything else.

Between this and Blue Ruin, this year has been rather strong for taut, classy and exciting thrillers
