Those are all excellent choices. My pick would be:

The Great Piggy Bank Robbery (1946)

One, because I think it really takes advantage of what animation can do rather than just imitating live action; two, because I love Rod Scribner's frenetic animation; and three, because I think the cartoon is funny as hell.

To save loading time (and space) for some, might want to put those clips in spoilers--
Like this:

(If you wanted it to be a Looney Tunes short, you should have said so. )

The Sandman (by Paul Berry):

Warning: disturbing/very mildly horriffic.

The Man Who Planted Trees (30 mins long, so not so much a 'short' as a 'medium short' )

It's superb.

The Man Who Planted Trees (English) - YouTube

It's superb.
Ah, man... Barbossa beat me to it. Imo, The Man Who Planted Trees is the greatest animated short ever. You just gotta check it out. I guarantee you there's nothing quite like it.

Since most of my favorites are already posted, I'll add a couple must-see shorts:

First, Hedgehog in the Fog. This has often been regarded as the greatest animated film ever made. Surreal and unforgettable.

And this one, entitled Dimensions of Dialogue, which is quite an impressive feat of claymation.

"Balance" has long been my favorite -
[Show spoiler]

And there was another really good one that I can't remember the name of. It was an animated short from the perspective of a blind person in a forest (no easy task to animate). I wish I could find it.

And don't forget Richard Condle (and this old saw):
[Show spoiler]

Would I be a complete geezer, btw, if I admitted to seeing most of the NFBOC and Zagreb shorts for the first time on Chuck Jones' old live-action Saturday-morning show in the 70's, back when he was educational kids-TV consultant for ABC?
I remember my first exposure to the Great White North was the classics:

Yup, that's another great one - but the original 'cut', ie with Raymond Briggs introducing it (not with the David Bowie or Father Christmas intros).

Part 1:

Part 2:

Part 3:

Grrr, can't find the Animatrix short "Program" on its own. Still, this is another favorite of mine from that line-up:

"The Running Man" from the NeoTokyo anthology:

From the same anthology, "Construction Suspension Order":

And here are some Pixar ones to lighten up the mood:

This one's pretty decent too:

Then there are these...watch at your own risk!
