Default Just bought a house, building my first dedicated HT.

EDIT: I finished the theater about a year ago and just uploaded a video of the transition. Completed pics and the video are in my Home Theater Gallery.

I have seen several other threads on here that I have enjoyed following. I love watching other people come up with ideas for their home theaters. I have been a long time observer of this forum and wanted to contribute my own project as I go along.

My wife and I will be moving into our first house in 2 days. I have been looking forward to building my own HT for a VERY long time and its finally time to start. My only criteria for a house was that it MUST have an unfinished basement that has enough usable space for me to have my way with.

I'll jump right in to it. The house is 8 years old with about 1200 sq ft of unfinished basement. I plan to frame out a wall to isolate the usable space from the utility/storage space. Being the geek that I am, I immediately took my measurements into google sketchup to play around with ideas.

Currently all exterior walls are framed/insulated, they just need finished. All electrical and lighting needs installed as well.

Since I have no pictures of the basement right now, here is one of my sketchup drawings.

The gray area is going to remain storage/utility space.
Pay no attention to the dumb room models, the couch is way too big and makes the room look small. The actual measurements are listed.
I will be building out the wall that separates the two halves of the basement.

I should have updated pictures of the project tonight/tomorrow.

Wish me luck... hoping I'm not getting in over my head!
