Thumbs up Shout Factory's Halloween 4K Releases

First and foremost, I love the artwork across the entire series. Having the consistent covers across all of them is very satisfying. I do think it's weird that they package Curse with H2O and Resurrection, but by the same token, I appreciated being able to get all three of them that cheaply.

I've shown others these releases, though, and have gotten mixed reactions. Some feel that they're ugly (), and others prefer the old cover art. I'm curious what the opinions are regarding these here. On the whole, did Shout do the series justice?

It’s unlikely we get the Zombie movies from them, I suspect Lionsgate Limited end up doing them at this point honestly, be nice if the feature length doc for his sequel can get cleared as part of that. I have a feeling we do get the new trilogy via Shout at some point though, be nice to get more extras for those, and who knows maybe an alternate cut for more than just one of them.

Overall I like these releases allot, that they aren’t quite definitive in terms of extras is disappointing though, especially when one of the missing extras is literally mentioned on the 6-8 box. I like the art overall also, especially with the original posters on the reverse and the hard slipboxes. I do personally with they had Devon Whitehead do the art on them, I love his art on the Chucky slips for example and would like to see what bits of scenes he’d have adapted to the cover using his style, but I also do like the art that was made for them it’s simpler but also nice.

I bought 1 though 5 on 4k at launch. I like the matching art and feel it gives an appropriately spooky vibe. The rigid slipboxes they came in are nice and I wish they were still using them. They have lots of extras and I am very happy with the video and audio quality.

Cool matching covers. Season of the Witch is actually my favorite.

^Don't listen to this guy, he tells nothing but lies. He hates Halloween and is more an Easter kind of guy with the floofy bunnies.

You keep doing you, Shazbot. There's also that Friday the 13th boxset that Scream Factory did if you wanna give that betty a thread.

Halloween never really gets the credit it deserves, I applaud threads like this trying to strengthen the brand.

If Shout released Theatrical Art Slipcases to replace them, I'd buy them. They're pretty bad.

I got rid of my slipcases and replaced them with Blockbuster Box Set's custom ones. Now I have something worth looking at.

How can I get a Hard Slip for #5? Shout provided me with Hard Slips for every other movie, except they told me they ran out for #5. Looks real strange with only that one missing the hard slip. Can't even find it on ebay.

Yeah, the big box with all doesn't appear to be available anymore, but the individual slip boxes are available at their site:

I was actually kind of tempted to purchase those slipboxes, but holy crap they dropped the ball on the spines.

I think they look pretty good. What don't you like about them? Is it the way they do the titles? I think they probably chose to do it this way to give it a cleaner, more uniform look.
