^ Yes, FUNimation has done some stupid things, but I cannot believe their new 4:3 remaster would just be cropped from the current 16:9. The clips in the promo have to be for illustrative purposes only ... right?

Assuming the final A/V specs are up to snuff: I'd like it, but I can't afford it. I don't care about the figure or the book. I just want the discs in a standard box set, without all the useless tat.

I would have bought this if it included the fullscreen movies and specials despite all these setbacks. But alas, it only contains episodes. And if I wanted episodes, there appear to be far better options to own them on. Hard pass for me, but beautiful packaging!

Yeah. It's actually cropped from the master of their 16:9 BDs. They're THAT stupid...

It's the same master as the 2014 season blu rays, but they didn't just take the 16:9 BDs and crop them, no. It's definitely more zoomed in than any prior 4:3 release though:

I excitedly ordered this when I saw it was in the original 4X3, Then I thought better of it and decided to wait for the reviews so that I didn’t get burned and canceled my order. Thank God, it looks like I made the right call.

Man, I bought this thing back in 2019 and watched through it successfully. About 5 months ago, started a re-watch and it turns out, the stupid cardboard packaging ruined one of the Buu Saga discs.. I reached out to Crunchyroll to ask I could just buy that disc individually. Sucks, because I don't see any other way of replacing it verbatim. What are the odds that they inherited the discs from FUNi?

My only option is to buy the dumb widescreen Season set for Season 8 and just have one random disc amongst the 30th box set.

I'm pretty sure the Steelbook sets use these same 30th anniversary discs. Although I believe the Steelbooks are out of print now too, but it couldn't hurt to look into it.
