Japan PACIFIC RIM SteelBook announced

...or at least "mentioned" on the Warner Bros. Japanese website, there will be an Amazon(.co.jp) SteelBook with the same specifications as the below:

3D & 2D 4-Disc box with Gipsy Danger:
http://www.amazon.co.jp/dp/B00F3WXFC0

Here's the link WB:
http://www.whv.jp/database/database....d=dp&num=14675

To make things marginally easier for new thread readers, HERE'S THE (KIND OF DEAD) LINK TO THE STEELBOOK:
http://www.amazon.co.jp/dp/B00F3WXFAM

...originally found and helpfully posted by GxyExpress999.

I was hoping Japan would come out with one. But from the 2 links you have up right now, it looks like they're just the collector's set. Hoping there will be an update for steelbook news.

Here's the mention in the original Japanese:

(※『【AMAZON完全数量限定商品】スチールブック仕様』収録の物と同じ)

And it's English translation c/o Google translate (for speed and convenience):

(Same as the "[AMAZON full amount-limited product] Steel Book specification" recording ※)

...but Amazon still hasn't got a listing for it yet.

And again, the link for the page from the WB site (so nobody thinks I'm on drugs):
http://www.whv.jp/database/database....d=dp&num=14675

This is what I was hoping for and now afraid of.
I might have to cancel my Pacific Rim steelbook order from Future Shop. It's Japanese and it has great artwork, but this is an Amazon exclusive and I use paypal.

Is somebody going to host a group buy for this?

Yeah, but this has better artwork (in my humble opinion). Also, I'm a sucker for Japanese steelbooks. I love looking at the Asian characters printed on the info sheets and it matches the style of the film. The Japanese tend to put more effort with their releases (they better, at those prices). Plus, where I live, it's on the west coast of North America, so to have the item shipped from there to here over the PACIFIC Ocean seems appropriate.

Damn... I think I convinced myself to buy this.

i want the steelbook, which i've pre-ordered, and i want the 3D model one which is on amazon.co.uk for £31.00

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Pacific-Rim-...ds=pacific+rim

which i would easily double dip for this

Yeah I guess, but it looks like it was listed as the No.1 selling blu-ray/DVD yesterday though.
http://www.hidefninja.com/forums/sho...47&postcount=9

There seem to be many complaint "reviews" on the amazon page regarding the fast sell out issue ("Please increase the number of units" etc.).

But even if it comes back in stock, I'm not sure if I'm willing to spend 5000+JPY plus 2000 JPY S&H for a 2D only release or not, although I like the design.

Definitely signed up to be notified about that one. I'm sure it will be pricey to import, but looks to be a very nice set.

Yeah, it's probably worth it, since it's already listed on Japanese auction sites (w/ double/triple the original price...). Signed up for the alert as well for now.

Is there even a price tag yet? I can't see how much yen it costs. I know their collector's edition is like $250 USD.

According to this blog (in Japanese), the price was 5980 JPY when it went live on 9/30 (Japan time?).

Okay those prices seem a lot more friendly (for Japanese standards). So is the steelbook not going to have 3D then? The steelbook version has a 16pg booklet but the 3D has a 36pg one.

Am I going to have to make a hidefninja account to get one?

HDN wont help you. this has already gone live and sold out within a day. every man and his dog has signed up to be notified IF it comes back in a stock so the chances of getting one are very slim, unless u go the ebay route and pay 3-4 times the original price
