I am unsure why you opened up a second thread when there isn't even any preliminary info about an upcoming Australian release.

I am sure that eventually there will be one.

The info was sent to me by a friend who works at TCHF - so no doubt it will.

When you get the release date for Australia, then its worth making a thread about something that is already over the forums in every other country.

Sorry if I stepped on anyone's toes... I don't read forums in every other country... I thought it was newsworthy given the popularity of this series.

I won't make that mistake again.

Im curious as to whether they will release both cuts of the original films. Like the recent DVDs have the original untampered version then the George Lucas special edition?

Any guessing competitions for what we will get charged for them?? I'm guessing $180.00 plus for the complete saga and something like $70.00 for each seperate trilogy.

No way man, Lucas 'claims' the Theatrical negatives were destroyed when they did the Special Editions. So we will have to live with Hayden Christensen at the end of Return of the Jedi but anyway, if I say to much it will open up a can of worms, and this isn't really the place to do so.

Kai not that it matters but I never saw 'the main page' but logged straight into this forum. But fair enough, you have made your point and I made mine. Let's leave it at that.

As Moderator I guess you have the authority to delete this thread so feel free to do that if you so desire.

I am certain that at some point in time the original cuts will show up. There have been numerous reasons given by Lucas for why they won't, but ultimately the footage would be around somewhere and I'm quite certain at some point Lucas will see the potential $$$ and release them. Having said that, I believe that it will be a while before we see that sort of release.

Although I don't like some of the changes I can live with others. Unlike some who grew up with the original trilogy I don't consider this to be a no deal because it's the '04 versions. As for further changes, the only thing I think we can bet on seeing is the CG Yoda in Episode I. Knowing that there's a 3D release coming perhaps Lucas has re-tweaked his CG Jabba cargo bay scene and the Greedo shooting scene again but who knows?

The main things I want to see are the lightsabre colours fixed.

As for price here in Australia: seeing as though it's Fox you can use the Alien Anthology as an example. Here in Australia the cheapest you could get it on release was $100. The UK had it for $60. That means it cost 1.66 times the UK cost here in Australia. With that in mind, Star Wars is $95 so my guesstimate based on that formula will be $155 or so. Given that prices in the UK and US may drop that could change, but I'm thinking the $150-mark is pretty likely and that's why I'll be importing (yes Gerry Harvey, I'm being un-Australian but I'm saving more than 10%!!!!)

But Fox: by all means prove me wrong.

Don't Fox region lock alot of there titles though? Which means importing from the US might not be an option, but UK importing will be.

Depending on prices locally, I might import from the UK, but I don't want to wait for delivery, when I can get it locally straight away.

Correct, Fox have locked approx 85% of their titles. That's Ok for people like atexp80 and Kai (with Region A players) but for the average punter like you and me, the UK edition is the only option (at this stage).

Fox region lock some though often titles where they hold rights in all territories are made region free. The US and UK releases of the Alien Anthology were both region free as they hold the rights everywhere. Being that Star Wars is the same situation I'd imagine that it might be a similar situation, though it's a bit of guesswork at the moment.

As for waiting, yes, that's a bit of a pain but that depends on release dates. Having said that I suspect the release date to be universal in all major territories for this title so if you're importing it may take a little longer. I'm willing to wait a week though if it saves me $50+ for the same thing. I love Star Wars, but it's not like it'll kill me if I have to wait a little longer to get it.

I sold my DVDs in November deliberately in anticipation of this so my next viewing will be when this set arrives.

The more I think about, it makes sense waiting and just importing for cheaper (if its anything like Alien Anthology, which was way cheaper to import) and I can wait a week or so for it. It may get released earlier overseas too. I'll wait to see local prices though, hopefully JB and other retailers post prices soon and make a decision from there.

I have a huge desire to watch Star Wars, but I'm going to wait till I get the Blu ray Saga and watch them from I-VI, which I've never done before.

ezydvd.com.au has the complete saga up for pre-order for $139.97 http://www.ezydvd.com.au/item.zml/817709 Also checked Sanity, they have it listed at the same price, so unless Big W or someone has a better deal it Looks like an Import

Thats not too bad of a price so far... just over 20 bucks per film. I will be paying around $NZ128 for the UK set, if the currency stays the same by the end of the year.

Yeah, that's actually surprisingly reasonable and far closer to the overseas prices than usual. Now the thing that remains to be seen is whether:

1) The artwork is the same. Fox's releases of the Alien Anthology differed. Star Wars might too
2) Whether there are price drops between now and release
3) JB has one of their 20% off sales scheduled around release or Big W's price undercuts others significantly

If those things happen we might see a major release priced competitively against international versions which would be a great thing!

Wow, I was expecting it be alot more than that, so I think I'll just get it locally. BigW, Kmart or Target are bound to have it on sale during launch week aswell. Knowing BigW, its likely to have $10-$20 knocked off the retail price and sometimes Kmart surprise with good launch prices too.

US get it on the 18th of September and UK on the 30th, so I guess we will get on the 30th or maybe abit later.

Not that it's been confirmed as yet but Chaos is listing a September 28 release date so you may not need to wait as long as you think. They do however want $158 for it.
