Hey everyone,
I am wondering if playing US BDs on PAL HDTVs could have a negative effects in terms of bandings? I have rented a bunch of BDs in Europe, including King Kong (2005) and Captain America, and both times it seemed that they featured far less bandings than the US BDs I imported later on. Also, I have severe bandings in movies, where almost everyone else says it's perfect: Skyfall: [Show spoiler] Marvel's The Avengers: [Show spoiler] The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug....: (Pretty much at the beginning when during a close up Bilbo with a sky at sunset in the background) However, I don't always have bandings show up, despite my collection consisting almost entirely of US BDs. I just find it strange that other don't seem to see anything wrong. So, my question is: Is it theoretically and practically conceivable that US BDs (NTSC, not really, right?) can have issues (bandings) when played back on PAL HDTVs, or is that nonsensical in every way? I have a Pioneer Kuro LX-5080 and an Oppo-BDP 83SE connected via HDMI. Does anyone else have these issues, or knows what's the reason? Thanks in advance. |
