Default The Hurricane Heist

The film follows a team of tech hackers who infiltrate a U.S. Mint facility on a small coastal town to steal $102M in cash, just as a disastrous Category 5 hurricane, the storm of the century, is about to strike and level it to the ground.

“Under the threat of a hurricane, opportunistic criminals infiltrate a US Mint facility to steal $600 million for the ultimate heist. When the hurricane blows up into a lethal CATEGORY 5 storm and their well-made plans go awry, they find themselves needing a vault code known only by one Treasury Agent (Maggie Grace), a need that turns murderous. But the Treasury agent has picked up an unlikely ally, a meteorologist (Toby Kebbell) terrified of hurricanes but determined to save his estranged brother kidnapped by the thieves. He uses his knowledge of the storm as a weapon to win in this non-stop action thriller ride charged with adrenaline throughout.”

Looks like a cheesy good time to me. Even the poster manages to be up front with the cheese. Count me in.
It looks like it could be more entertaining than Hard Rain.

Hopefully, they'll polish up that trailer. It looks like a cheap trailer for a DTV action flick.

Saw the trailer for this in front of (of all movies) Hostiles!

I had heard of it before, but figured it would a direct to video release... the trailer looked like pure syfy channel cheese!

I'm sure I'll still see it though!

Why wouldn't she?

Anyways, as for the movie, or the trailer, I guess, that looks truly awful. As in, one of the worst trailers I've seen in a LONG time. It could end up being fun in a "so bad it's good" way, I suppose. And it does have Maggie Grace, so I guess there's that. But yikes.

Oh, and those effects were just unfinished, and thrown together for the trailer, right? Right?!

Don't you dare disparage my Maggie!

She's the main reason I'm interested in this. That, and I'm a sucker for any kind of disaster flick. I even enjoyed Hard Rain.

Will they run into Christian Slater and Morgan Freeman going the other direction?

Seems like a huge drop for Rob Cohen. Not that he was anything special to begin with.

To be fair, Cohen has done a few decent to good flicks. He did that Bruce Lee biopic and a Rat Pack movie for HBO. The movies he's doing now are up for debate.

I saw this today and actually enjoyed it for what it was. It certainly has some ridiculous moments, but it was a decent flick. Plus... Maggie

I will say I am surprised this got a theatrical release. It feels like a perfect example of a direct-to-VOD or Redbox title, especially with its cast of known-but-not-"A-list" stars. I think that skews expectations a bit. As a theatrical release it's okay, but if I had seen this pop up on VOD or Redbox and watched it, I would probably be like "that was actually pretty darn good!"

So, ridiculous as it is, I had fun, so I'd give it a 3.5/5. If there is a poll without half-star increments, though, I would have to go with 3.

Had a ball seeing this one and apparently the people there did as well.
It has its cheesy and ridiculous moments but it was a surprisingly solid effort and a neat overall premise. It's not as bad as it looks on the outside.
Maggie Grace had charm and personality along with Kebbell and Kwanten as our heroes along with villains that range from colorful to unhinged.
This was the movie Hard Rain should have been. A grand ole time for sure.

This cheesy movie's enticing. MoviePass will take care of that growing curiosity in me...

Used Moviepass to see it tonight. Hardly anyone in the theater.....not surprised. Nothing special except for the soundtrack. It will sound good on a home theater though.
