Default Green Lantern: Beware My Power (2022)

Quote:
Recently discharged Marine sniper John Stewart is at a crossroads in his life, one which is only complicated by receiving an extraterrestrial ring which grants him the powers of the Green Lantern of Earth. Unfortunately, the ring doesn't come with instructions – but it does come with baggage, like a horde of interplanetary killers bent on eliminating every Green Lantern in the universe. Now, with the aid of the light-hearted Green Arrow, Adam Strange and Hawkgirl, this reluctant soldier must journey into the heart of a galactic Rann/Thanagar war and somehow succeed where all other Green Lanterns have failed.

This will have to hold us over until the HBO series shows up. Whenever that will be.

I kinda hoped this would be a solo Green Lantern movie, without including any of the Justice Leaguers. It kinda feels liek WB has no faith in the Green Lantern having a solo movie anymore due to the 2011 movie.

As a Hal Jordan Fan my first response to any Green Lantern news is to say that I want Hal, but in this case I do somewhat agree. Hal's a hard character to really relate to on an origins level and Jon Stewart is just boring. Guy is a bit too rough around the edges but everything about Kyle just works for a movie... animated or otherwise.

Kyle Rayner is the Lantern I grew up with & he’s always been my favorite. I also think Ryan Reynolds was more suited to playing Rayner then Hal Jordan.

I like John Stewart, but then again, my first exposure to the Green Lantern growing up was Justice League so..

Either way movie looks cool, so i'll check it out. I'm also glad that WB is continuing the mural on the spines.

The best thing to ever happen to the Character of John Stewart was the Justice League Cartoon. He fit in perfectly with the dynamics of that show and the show itself came at a time where Hal Jordan had a) Not been a Green Lantern for almost a decade and b) Was acting as the Spectre and so it didn't make a lot of sense to include him it. Guy Gardner hadn't been a GL for a number of years as well at that point if I remember correctly and so that left Kyle and John to take on the role. Kyle's personality would have been too similar to the Flashes in that series and so having Stewart in there was perfect.

I don't mind John Stewart as a GL for movies like this, but he will always need a plentiful cast of associates to make the film fun/interesting.
Hal/Kyle/Guy can carry a movie on their own without other mainstays of the DCU being included, John by himself cannot as what makes him most interesting as a character is his introspection and military background as opposed to the other GL's personalities, something that doesn't translate to the screen as easily...

I'm rather tired of the superhero thing other than The Boys (because it's a different take on it) but always have time for The Green Lantern. I think the beauty of it is the fact there are multiple personalities playing the part not to mention the other alien Lanterns. I'm looking forward to them taking another stab at live action (for the record I rather like the Ryan Reynolds movie).

I can't wait. The Green Lantern Corps is my favorite comic property. Though Hal is my favorite hero of all time, this looks great.

I just read the special features for the blu ray and... still no sneak peeks at upcoming releases. Seriously, why did they stop doing that?

They had me at Hawkgirl

Perfect timing for a Green Lantern film release with the sad passing of the great Neal Adams recently. I believe he and Denny O'Neil created the character.

I only know Hal Jordan as The Green Lantern. All I know of The Green Lantern is the awful Ryan Reynolds movie.

Honestly, this release looks great to me. I was interested in seeing another Hal film, but even more interested in getting a Jon film. Add in Hawkgirl, Green Arrow, and Adam Strange, plus a Rann-Thanagar War, and you've got the makings of a very entertaining movie.
