It's been almost 25 years since The Mask, based on the Dark Horse comic of the same name, hit theaters and helped turn Jim Carrey into one of the biggest stars on the planet. His turn as Stanley Ipkiss, an unlucky bank teller who gains cartoonish confidence via an ancient Norse mask, is now the stuff of Hollywood legend.
During our phone call, Mike Richardson, who co-wrote and produced The Mask motion picture, told me that he is very interested in revisiting the cinematic IP. Moreover, he already knows who he wants to take on the central role if another movie in the series comes to pass.
"I’d like to see a really good physical comedian [in the role]," he said. "I have one in mind, but I’m not gonna say her name. We have to do a lot of convincing for this particular actor, but we’ll see ... You never know what’s coming in the future. We have some ideas."
