A thread for talking and speculating about films that are in production but haven't been released or those that haven't been made yet.
1)Starting off, this test footage of Deadpool was leaked online two weeks ago: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x22...-hd_shortfilms Fox holds the rights and I'm really hoping this gets made. Ryan Reynolds is perfect for the role as anybody can see above. I always saw Deadpool as an R-rated psychopathic version of Spider-Man but without the overall tone being grim. What sets it apart even more is the fact that Deadpool in the comics constantly breaks the fourth wall and interacts with the reader (usually making pop-culture references), something which they completely nailed in the above footage. A self-aware, R-rated, smart-ass superhero is something that can be really refreshing. I'm not holding my breath though as the chances of it happening are really slim. 2)Sin City: A Dame To Kill For I'm a huge fan of the graphic novels and the first film and was ecstatic when I heard a sequel was finally going to see the light of day. Unfortunately, none of the trailers or tv spots so far have impressed me. While I do love it when the cinematography and lighting makes a film feel like a comic book (like the first Sin City, 300, Watchmen, etc), A Dame To Kill For seems to be a textbook example of what happens when that style is taken to the extreme. Some of the CGI, camera work and lighting looks downright horrible and in fact, the entire film comes off as kinda sleazy. To be brutally honest, it feels like a black-and-white version of Machete Kills as opposed to comic-book meets film noir that the first one was. |
