Default Samsung BD-P1400 $339 on Amazon

Just wanted to let everyone know that Amazon has dropped the price on the Samsung BD-P1400 player from $499.99 to $339.99 on Amazon.com High Def Digest.com also has this featured as a story on their main page.

The 1400 does not have the HQV upscaling chip that was in the 1200.

You're far better off with the 1200, which can be grabbed for $300 CASH on most kijiji sites.

Yeah, but the 1400 can bitstream the latest audio formats to compatible receivers. The 1200 can't. If you're an audiophile then the 1400 is a much better deal. Plus, I think most people get their players for their Blu-ray playback capabilities and not for how well they upscale standard DVD's. But that's just my opinion.

The good news is that there appear to be a number of players that can be obtained with semi-reasonable deals/prices as of black friday.

Hopefully these prices are here to stay (we won't see Toshiba's entry model for over $200 again) and keep dropping as we head into christmas.
