Default PS3 audio drop-outs on DVD only

Whenever I play DVDs on my PS3 slim, I get audio dropouts: the sound occasionally will drop (not the video) for a few seconds and then go back on. Sometimes rarely, sometimes frequently. This has never happened when I play Blu-rays. I don't think it's a defect on any particular DVD because it happens with all my DVDs, but not Blu-rays.

My PS3 is hooked up to my Onkyo receiver via HDMI, which is then hooked up to my TV. I've replaced all my HDMI cords.

Does anyone know what might be causing this? Thanks in advance.
