I read somewhere that an apple Apple AV adapter allows you to play UV content via flixter on your tv through hdmi, can anyone confirm this?
What's the playback quality like? Passable or utter rubbish? |

On some apps (YouTube, iTunes Movies, and Disney Movies Anywhere), the video is played on the TV screen while the app on the iPad shows a playing on external screen message. On other apps that don't support outputting the video separately, the TV mirrors the app screen on the iPad ( and the video tends to be lower quality). Update: Tried out Flixster and MGo, both of those apps could not stream while connected to the AV adapter. This was the warning I got. ![]() Vudu, Target Ticket, and Cinemanow could only output the movie by mirroring the app. Last edited by disneywildcat; 07-11-2014 at 10:51 PM. |

![]() I'm running an Apple TV 3 with iPad Air and newest (wireless ac) time capsule. Time capsule and ATV 3 are both hard wired in via Uverse Ethernet- 15mbps |

After being a long time AppleTV user I did everything I could (Including the Apple AV Adapter) to stream Vudu/Flixter to my Television without adding another appliance. In the end I picked up a Roku3 and haven't looked back. In my mind it is superior to the AppleTV in everyway and still allows me to stream my music from my Apple Library. I'm left very impressed and now I have access to Flixter/Vudu/HBOGo/HuluPlus and couldn't be happier.

Just tired Airplay with Flixster and Apple TV. It works better than I thought. It only works when SD streaming is selected, but given a good internet connection, the picture quality on the Apple TV could be better than SD. Either way, it's much better than mirroring the Vudu or Target Ticket apps, and the best way to show UV content on a Apple TV. Too bad Flixster still doesn't work with the Apple AV adapter though. If you own the physical media, I suggest ripping / handbreak and then using iTunes Home Sharing LAN technology to play the file onto ATV.
Handbreak into M4V. It should work well. I also take the time to add meta data to my files. Last edited by Walter-S_NC; 08-15-2014 at 08:19 PM. |
