Quote:
David Fincher already has tackled one Silicon Valley billionaire in Mark Zuckerberg. Now, the Social Network director is poised to take on the late Steve Jobs for Sony.

Fincher is in early talks to helm the untitled film based on Walter Isaacson’s best-selling biography of the Apple co-founder, sources tell The Hollywood Reporter. If a deal comes together, the film would reunite the director with Oscar-winning Social Network writer Aaron Sorkin, who recently finished the adaptation, and the film's producer Scott Rudin.

Like Zuckerberg, Jobs was a complicated visionary who became a polarizing figure. Under Jobs' watch, Apple revolutionized several business, including personal computers, music, computer-generated animation and mobile phones. In the process, he became known as one of the greatest innovators of his generation. At the same time, he was unapologetic about his difficult personality, was at one point ousted at Apple and was criticized for the harsh treatment of workers in China who assembled Apple products.

Jobs' life already has inspired one big-screen feature: Open Road's 2011 film Jobs, starring Ashton Kutcher, which grossed just $35 million worldwide. But the Sorkin-penned project is considered a much more high-profile project due to the pedigree of those involved and the popularity of Isaacson's book, for which he obtained unrivaled access to Jobs during the last years of his life.

Sony boarded the project in October 2011, just weeks after Jobs succumbed to pancreatic cancer. Sorkin began writing the script in 2012, though he also has been heavily involved in his HBO series The Newsroom. No actor is attached yet, though the chance to play Jobs for Fincher and Sorkin likely would pique the interest of many A-list stars. Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak is participating in the film as a consultant.

Two things. We already had a "Jobs" film, and Fincher needs to get working on TGWTDT sequel

If Fincher directs it, I will watch it. That simple.

However, I do agree with Edword that I would love to see him direct Played With Fire.

If Fincher wanted he could try and make a deal with Sony that if he directs the Steve Jobs movie then the studio would green light The Girl Who Played With Fire as his next movie after Jobs.

It's David Fincher, so I'll see it. Hopefully he can convince Trent Reznor to score this thing.

I'm interested in this purely because of Fincher and Sorkin. But I hope Fincher uses this as leverage to make 'The Girl Who Played with Fire' and 'The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets Nest'.

We can hope. I've been waiting for his 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea adaptation. But hey, it's Fincher, when it comes it'll be quality.

Fincher and Sorkin are two of the best in the industry. That said, not sure I'm interested in another Jobs movie.

As for a Girl Who... sequel, I don't think it will happen. I'd much rather he move on to other projects anyway.

That's the one I want to see from Fincher. Not hugely interested in a Jobs biopic or Girl With the Dragon Tatoo sequels, considering that the Swedish films didn't have a very compelling story after the first one.

"Jobs" was a stinker and a half. I think Fincher could do wonders with the story.

As for The Millennium trilogy: The first film conveyed everything about that universe that need to be expressed, so I don't really see much of an urgency for Fincher to commit more time on sequels. He's too talented to spend his time "running in place."

Don't forget Atticus Ross. He's another important component of the Fincher crew.

Ouuuu, this sounds interesting. The second I read the title I said to myself, "please let this mean we get another Sorkin screenplay."

So yes, consider me interested.

Wonder who would play Steve. I heard Ashton looked exactly like him.

With the way the 2013-2014 Deaths list has claimed some of our finest and most cherished I think Fincher should get on TGWTDT sequels before he works on anything else. You never know when something like that will happen.

To be perfectly frank, I don't think you can make his story more interesting than they did.
