thanks a lot for the US review...
![]() Did you have a chance to compare it with the French Blu-Ray transfer ???(this was initially available several months ago exclusively at Fnac - but is now available everywhere) French release is a 1080p24 transfer from Memento (I have to check if this is a B25 too or a B50) Subtitles are not forced. Do you think the image of the US review is sharper than the French release ?? (I have the feeling that the jazz-club picture is sharper on your vidcaps but perhaps it is just me) (I saw it in theatrical and the image was sometimes soft even in close-up so I guess that they did respect at Memento the theatrical release). Bonus looks the same : too bad that there's no interview of Agata Kulesza. I think that it was her first role and she was amazing to say the least ![]() |

I'll wait for AE's release, coming out in Nov, hopefully with more extras. This is a bit steep and the cover is ugly to say the least. The poster they use in Italy features the best artwork by far (featuring the most poetic sequence in the movie):
![]() Here's an even more beautiful English variation: ![]() ps. I just noticed Amazon updated the UK cover art, and it's indeed this faboulous still! Just too bad they put all those useless stars and quotes. ![]() ![]() Last edited by Dan8700; 09-28-2014 at 10:55 AM. |

yes it's one of my favorite sequence too...
![]() when she dressed up (and un...mmm) before going to the night jazz club... By the way, the French blu-ray has the artwork you described (now you can find it on amazon.fr) but - I don't know if amazon.fr will sell the same packaging - it's not a jewel case but a digipack (the French Memento version) which was sell exclusively at fnac.fr several months ago. (But I can't confirm if now the Memento "non exclusive" version sell by amazon.fr will be a digipack or a standard jewel case (it looks like a black jewel case) And there's a lovely black & white photo inside (the scene when she puts on her tiptoes to dance with saxophonist) (and if I remember the front artwork is not as "charged" as the photo posted above. A very nice digipack. I'll try to make a photo if some are curious... |

AE are well known for putting out extra-less discs, so don't get your hopes up too much. I'll wait (sigh) for the price to drop on this one. With Music Box, that's usually 6 months to a year, might get lucky with a B&N or DD sale though.

There's a review with screenshots of the Artificial Eye (UK) release on dvdbeaver and here:
http://www.blu-raydefinition.com/rev...ay-review.html I have the French BR release (which is close to the US release). From what I can see on the screenshots of the Artificial Eye on dvdbeaver and blu-raydefinition, the picture of the Artificial Eye has more contrast (and perhaps more detailed than the French release) whereas the French and BR US looks "softer" and """gray-ish"""... I don't know anymore which one is the more accurate regarding the Theatrical release. I can't say if Artificial Eye has "tweaked" the contrasts or not... but on the French BR the image is clearly softer; you can tell it with the shadows; especially for the jazz-club scenes... |

Hopefully you're not still holding out for this. The US disc definitely has the upper hand with special features, plus a booklet. People in the UK thread are importing this version from the US instead of going with their AE release.
