Blu-ray Can't Crack 'Da Vinci Code'

Tags: Disc Announcements, Sony (all tags)
When 'The Da Vinci Code' hits DVD on November 14, the Blu-ray version won't be tagging along with it, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment announced today.
Though Sony remains the biggest studio proponent of Blu-ray and has big plans for 'Da Vinci' on the format, the effort required to ramp up the set's bonus features, all of which were shot in high-definition, ultimately prevented the release from hitting stores day-and-date with the DVD.
"We really felt it really required an appropriate amount of time to create the best Blu-ray release [of 'Da Vinci Code'] possible," Sony senior VP Fritz Friedman told Video Business. "It will be well worth the wait."
Though Sony had no further details on the upcoming Blu-ray release of $225-million grossing blockbuster, expectations now are that 'The Da Vinci Code' likely hit Blu-ray sometime in the first half of 2007.
In the meantime, we've added the title to the "Release Dates Pending" section of our comprehensive Blu-ray Release Schedule. Stay tuned!
Looks like Sony wants to do it up big...SONY, We don't mind waiting AT ALL!!!

As long as it comes out and blows everyone away, I'm cool with it. Take all the time you need. All of the special features were shot in HD as well, all we need is some interactivity...

Yeah, but al those delays with DL discs do make me feel bad. At least until we see few titles on DL.

Sony's statements may have been misinterpreted.

IMHO the movie wasn't worththe hype and so was he book. Angels & Demons (prequel to DC) is a mucho beter book. And for that matter DC book is better than DC movie. Tom Hanks had no business in that movie, IMO. Overall, it's watchable, especially on BD But not worth going to the theater, or buying it. I'll rent it later from netflix.

Tom hanks shouldn't have been in the movie he's not nearly as confident as that char should have been. The other thing too is that the movie cut too many corners and didn't get really into a lot of the things that made the book interesting. Angels and Demons IMO is much the same story as Da Vinci code and i like Da Vinci code more, but thats juste me.
