I couldnt find any threads on these scooters online so Im wondering about people's experiences with them?

I have one and Im concerned if I have one with a bad battery or if Im too fat. They are supposed to last to 4-5 hours on one full recharge. Im 93 Kilos (200 pounds) and it lasts me less than an hour. For my 10 year old son, it lasts much longer - maybe 2 hours.

So did I get one with a weak battery am I just too fat?

Did you ever try it? They are extremely fun. And they arent as dorky as its cousin the Segway. Still dorky but slightly less.

I'd say far less dorky considering the mass usage by celebrities of all kind vs. the Segway which never left the hardcore nerd space

When Im on it, I try not to use my smartphone while riding it because that looks ridiculous and funny. I've seen people do that as if they were playing it cool because if they were just standing on them and paying attention, then it would be dorky. But if one plays with their smartphone while riding, then they are "super cool." So I have no problem looking dorky on them. I just dont use a helmet and elbow/knee pads at least.

Thumbs up Not a hoverboard

Can't understand why the word hoverboard is used when they aren't hoverboards.

Because it feels like one is hovering when on it. And "Self-balancing scooter" is an awful non-catchy name.

No,there is a product in development that is a hoverboard. These things have wheels, hoverboards do not.A skateboard is not a hoverboard but you could say you feel like you are hovering on a skateboard.

I didnt create the term for it - dont blame me! I still like to call them "portable transportation device for lazy, fat Americans" instead.

The guy who owned the Segway company died when he accidentally rode his Segway off a cliff. I'm not even joking:

I remember reading about this, he gave way to walkers and fell to his death. Awful thing.

Be careful when charging your hoverboards.

I prefer good old fashioned walking and running. These things are definitely popular, though. I've seen both mall resellers who are asking comical amounts and folks selling them from the back of their truck on the side of the road. I'd imagine these will hit a saturation point eventually and the fad will die down a bit when the novelty factor wears off.

They remind of the Ripstiks a few years back.

Lots of fires lately. Amazon cut off one brand entirely. People who own them are really getting a case of frayed nerves.

Looks like one outfit went too cheap on the batteries and electrical components. I wouldn't stick my neck out.
