United Kingdom Black Lagoon Seasons 1&2

Black Lagoon: Complete Season 1 Blu-ray PRE-ORDER

Quote:
Rokuro Okajlma is meek, mundane and metropolitan. His business trip to South East Asia turns from pleasure cruise to festival of pain when modern day pirates board the ship and take him hostage. Revy, Dutch and Benny are merciless, maniacal and mean. Together, they make up the crew of the Black Lagoon. Making a living in a city where the most villainous of villains make themselves at home isn't without its risks, but they take on any job available to them. Smuggling guns, drugs, kidnapped children and stolen goods is all part if a hard days work.

Starring Daisuke Namikawa, Megumi Toyoguchi and Hiroaki Hirata.
Black Lagoon: Complete Season 2 Blu-ray PRE-ORDER

Quote:
An explosive anime that aspires to be a Hollywood action blockbuster and succeeds on every level, BLACK LAGOON is a gloriously violent and shamelessly profane series (based on the graphic novel by Rei Hiroe) that chronicles the insane adventures of Dutch, Benny, Revy and Rock ...

Manga UK is crazy if they think their Blu-Rays would sell better at £27 per season!

Black Lagoon blurays have been out in Japan for a while and they are HD.

No reason why these shouldn't be.

Manga don't actually set the prices of these sets, Kaze do. Manga are just distributing the sets for Kaze.

Still I would have preferred to pay no more than £50 for both seasons but I think I will buy anyway on its reputation.

For anyone curious about the Euro Black Lagoon release (the following is based on the French/Italian disc, which should be the same one used for the upcoming UK release):

Seasons 1 & 2 have the following specs:
Video: AVC
Audio: Japanese LPCM 2.0 (16bit), German LPCM 2.0 (16bit), Italian LPCM 2.0 (16bit), Spanish LPCM 2.0 (16bit), French LPCM 2.0 (16bit), English LPCM 2.0 (16bit)
Subtitles: English (white), German, Spanish, French, Italian
BD: 2 x BD25s per season (each disc has 6 episodes)
Region: B Locked
No Extras

Like other Kaze releases, you choose which territory you want and you have the choice of either the dub (with no subtitles) or Japanese with forced subtitles (for whichever region you choose).

Watched the first few episodes. Some comments:
-Transfer is HD. The PQ is fairly good, albeit a bit soft.
-AQ is ok. Dialogue is clear and easy to understand. Gunshots and such seemed fairly tame and quiet.
-I did not see any macroblocking or color shimmering. There is however mild banding (primarily on landscape scenes).
-Subtitles are fine. There are however some instances where a word has an unnecessary space.
-Each episode takes up between 3-4GBs. The bitrate went anywhere from 6-30mbps.

As for the Roberta's Blood Trail OAV, it appears the French and Italian releases are not English friendly according to a various sites (I held off ordering it because of this). It appears to only have French and Italian audio and subs (as well as the original Japanese audio). If you want an English friendly release, you will have to wait for Kaze UK to releases its own version of the disc (whenever that happens).

Might be worth asking in the Anime section.
