It occurred to me that as a horror fan, many of the images that made a deep impression on me, I was exposed to long before actually seeing the movie. At ages 7-12, you're old enough to have a good idea of what you're seeing, but your cynicism is so low that no suspension of belief is required. This stuff was real! Or at least, serious business.
Remember, this post is about advertising material, not necessarily the movie itself. This rising alphabet with its keyboard riff, warped my fragile little mind: During an early 80s re-release, there was a radio spot that I heard late at night for Dawn of the Dead that put the chill to me. I can't find it but here are some TV spots: I also remember the spots for "It Came Without Warning". Ridiculous movie, but hey, I was 10: ![]() |
