To counter the "Maybe I paid too much for this steelbook," I thought maybe we could start a thread about your steelbook purchases that were snagged at an unbelievably low rate. A steelbook that's valued higher than you want to pay and then *BAM* a listing on eBay or Amazon appears that seems too good to be true that pushes you over to finally buy it.
I've been wanting the HDZeta How to Train Your Dragon 3D steelbook for quite some time. Prices never seem to budge from $80 and up. I stumbled upon an eBay listing with a Buy it Now price of $39.99 and $4.00 shipping. After (rapidly) reading the description, I bought it. It arrived in sealed/mint condition last Thursday. I sold the 3D disc on eBay for $12, stuck my HtTYD2 disc in there, and added an adhesive disc hub on the left in anticipation for the third movie's disc. Mind you, my copy didn't have the slip, slip box, or extras (other than the numbered card), but I didn't care. The extras-less copies were still a minimum of $70 on eBay around the same time I bought this copy. After it was all said and done, it cost me $32.00! So how about you? What are some of your best "too good to be true" steelbook deals? Last edited by DarkEco910; 06-02-2015 at 08:44 PM. |

I like this glass half full approach.
![]() My best deals are probably Nova's Captain America Winter Soldier full slip for $40, Kimchi's Snowpiercer for $40, Kimchi's Rush lenti for $30 and best of all, Kimchi's Infernal Affairs lenti for $28. ![]() Domestically, my best deals were probably $30 for Best Buy's Winter Soldier steel and $19 for Divergent. Neither are great deals if you were able to get them day 1, but I bought these recently and they're sold out. After selling the digital copies, they'll cost me even less. ![]() |

I thought I would inject a little positivity since collecting should be fun and full of surprises. Amongst the bad experiences and the ridiculousness of scalpers, there are the rare gems that are briefly possessed by even rarer good individuals.

Haha no favors. Hardly anybody gives favors in this hobby. All these are steels that I wouldn't typically wouldn't pay full price for so they made it into my collection because they were undervalued. Quote:
