Default Corrupt (1983, Harvey Keitel, Johnny Rotten) Diabolok exclusive from Code Red

Quote:
A New York policeman (Harvey Keitel, Bad Lieutenant, Reservoir Dogs) imprisons and tortures an admitted cop-killer (John Lydon, a.k.a. the Sex Pistols’ Johnny Rotten), but finds the tables turned when his
victim refuses to break and in fact urges more punishment. A blistering battle of wits ensues that will leave everyone with more than a few scars. Also starring Leonard Mann (Cut and Run, Night School) and Sylvia Sidney (Beetlejuice, God Told Me To), this taut thriller from director Roberto Faenza (Escalation) features a jittery score by Oscar-winning legend Ennio Morricone (The Hateful Eight, The Mission) and is now presented in a new 2K HD scan for the very first time!

Corrupt/Cop Killer/order of Death
This is presented in 1.78.1 OAR is 1.66.1
Audio is DTS-HD MA Stereo
No subtitles
Duration 1h 41m 4s
Original runtime is listed at 117 minutes or 113 minutes (US).
Extras- 1 interview and trailers

I'm usually quite tolerant of film releases (with my most critical being the US release of Fahrenheit 451) so take this information as personal opinion and fact but not a definitive review.

The picture is clear, often soft, but never crisp. There is flicker predominantly on the left side. During darker scenes, on my 52" TV, about 3 inches of the right side is often white/light grey. Blacks are never black aside for the leather furniture. Colors are never vibrant and often faded. It's uneven. Bright skies and clean white walls often appear blown out.

Audio is better. Often clear and plenty loud (and I can't hear that well). Other times 's' sounds pick up very sharp and cause distrortion/crackle and hiss.

Being a Harvey Keitel, I was happy for this release, but I do not feel the urge to rewatch it. The film has tension, but it drags at times. It also feels choppy.

*Follow up*

Still finding copies of this through torrents listing 1h,53m run time. I'm not good with torrents though. IMDB still lists as 1h57m and 1h53m USA. No way a movie like this has 12-16 minutes of credits.

I mentioned the crackling/hissing "S" sound during the Code Red presentation. I can only assume these are inherent to the master. I recently acquired a copy of "Corrupt Lieutenant" from ebay. Ive also seen it in truck stops. The harsh 's' is also in that copy. Corrupt Lt. DVD looks to be a rip straight from VHS. It has tracking errors and is 4:3 1.33. Run Time of 1h, 39m. It does however, have the 'Corrupt' title card.
