If your receiver can accept PCM then yes and that only requires 1.1. And I am guessing it will since that is what the PS3 uses for TruHD as well.

it must be a reciever that have an HDMI input it will work cuz the PS3 will decode TRUDOLBY AND DTS HD and sent it out as PCM.

The PS3 doesn't decode DTS HD. Yet... I'm betting it will.

Anyway, I have a question that is sort of related to the topic title. Does a digital receiver (one that has HDMI connections and can decode HD audio) sound significantly better than analog receivers? The receiver I'm using is so outdated that the only option is the RGB connection; it has optical but I don't have a cable and that still is not really digital. Also, I have never really experienced proper HD audio so I don't have anything to compare it to. The closest comparison is my uncle's setup, who has a DVD upconverter, and the audio is transmitted through HDMI. Probably not ideal in this day and age, but it sure kicked RGB's ass! I was surprised to hear that his Live Free or Die Hard on DVD sounded way better than my Blu-Ray, so I figured that audio transmitted digitally trumps analog.

I'm working on getting a new receiver and a set of speakers next year and I just wanted confirmation of the difference in audio quality between analog and digital.

It's a Sony STR-DG1000 Receiver. Thanks for the replies!
