Default hd-dvd last ditch effort

I noticed that Anchorman and Oldschool are getting pushed out on hd-dvd this Tuesday, out of no where. When were these planned, were they kept secret by Dreamworks or is the HD-Dvd camp trying to combat Superbad (and its gloriousness). It just seems like these movies are getting released out of nowhere and I never heard these even mentioned as a release on HD-DVD. What do you guys think. Shrek didn't seem to sell as well as anticipated by the HD camp.

they caught me off guard too.

Aren't they paramount/dreamworks movies though?

Also - what is rather alarming, I think Will Ferrel might star in more movies available on HDM than anyone else. Stranger than fiction, talledega nights, blades of glory, anchorman, and old school. Is there any other actor that's in that many HD movies? I guess Bruce Willis now that the 4 die hards and 5th element are out.

Yea they are dreamworks, whoops you are right. But still, are they being released to combat the release of Superbad?

Hardly out of nowhere. Highdefdigest announced these two on August 24. Perhaps no buzz is a better way to look at it:

Maybe they were timed to come out with Hot Rod which reportedly was originally targeted for Will Ferrel.

couple of average movies though. Not much point hyping them too much.

I can see why toshiba Paid so much for these high quality block buster releases.

I think Johnny Depp may be in more HDM-released films than Will Ferrell...

Christian Bale is in quite a few:

The Prestige, Batman Begins, American Pyscho, Rescue Dawn, Equilibrium, and Reign of Fire.

Both pretty "meh" movies... won't make a dent.
