Default Blu-ray potential?

i recently read a article about westinghouse releasing a quad hd tv with 2x 1080p res

i was wondering if blu-ray disk could play that kind of res
or is it maxed at 1080p
since the 100gig disk will preopably come out next year
it would be prety Cool of the disk could hold that next next gen res

I don't believe higher resolutions are part of the BD format specs, since it would be a matter of more than disk space but also bandwidth and video processing.

1080p is the top end

IF it's Westinghouse it's probably some crap kludge anyway

Potential is good, but the issue is that specs need to remain specs on a format. People look at the logo and say "this will work with my player" or not. Todays players can't handle >1080p, if one day studios want to move to that even if it is 99% BD it would need a new name.
