Default Brush with death...ever had one?

55mph under the trailer of a semi. walked away with some nasty bruises and scrapes, but walked away.

and that was a few years ago, obviously from the timestamp still makes me cringe tho

My closest brush with death was when I said "I do." Nothing but fun and frivolity ever since.

BTW, glad you weren't hurt.

I am a cancer survivor of 7 years. Thanks to modern medicine and lots of prayer I am still here. But I guess if I had left things the way they were I would be 6ft under now. Every day is a gift.

mine is a long story. but its similar to the OP's. in august 05 I had gotten my 65 mustang running again after 2 years of dormancy. I was going to drive it to my grandfather's house to strip it to the frame and rebuild it with his help. my wife and I drove to church in it, we were then going to drive to my parents' house and follow them to grandpa's. we didn't make it to my parents' house. we were sideswiped by a high profile white vehicle about 200 feet from our exit. we were pushed into the semi in front of us then veered to the left where we were clipped on both our front and rear bumpers then we were T boned on my side by a semi driving 70 mph. the car that caused it took off, and no one stopped to give a statement to the police. so they blamed me initially. I broke my back in 7 places, ruptured my spleen, concussion, fractured pelvis, fractured skull, and fractured several vertabre in my neck. my wife broke 4 ribs and had a stroke (but that was dr. neglect but the hospital kept such horrible records it is unprovable in court). I had to go through months of physical therapy in order to function correctly again. I didn't know until recently but I was very close to dying several times after the accident. kind of changes your outlook on like a little. I can post pics of my car later.

I can link to the whole long story in anyone is actually interested in reading it. there's the whole accident story, the hospital ordeal, and the court saga. that's mine.

blu-light,
awesome to hear about surviving cancer. prayer is an amazing thing.

Apparently, several times in college I had a brush with death. For some reason, I don't remember them...

I flipped my atv about 6 years ago when I was 18. I hit the ground first, it hit next and kinda trampled over me (I had tire tracks all over my back) and we both kinda kept rolling for a few seconds. I remember the flip and then blacked out. Woke up and the 4-wheeler was about 10 feet ahead of me and bent all to hell. Surprisingly it wasn't totaled. There was about $2000 in damage but luckily only had to pay the $100 deductible with my insurance. Oh yeah, I wasn't wearing my helmet. I was also out in the middle of nowhere on government land that I wasn't supposed to be on. Needless to say my mom wasn't too happy with me.

when i was at school, some twat chucked a javlin while i was on the running track, the fecking javlin ripped my t-shirt as it buzzed past my arm.

Needless to say, the lunchtime break had me stamping on that pillocks head. i kid you not.

might not of killed me but it would of hurt like a biatch (is there somthing on my head? )

P.S, im also a motorcyclist, so evey weekend has some old fart trying to kill me at T junctions.

Yes

Years ago... Cheap car approaching a blind bend on the crest of a hill on a very narrow country road. I applied my brakes and nothing much happened (oil on the road from some tractor I suppose). I had to decide whether to ride out going off the road and down the hill (probable curtains for me), or gamble swerving onto the other side of the road and hope that nothing came.

I used the other side of the road... thankfully nothing came (or it would have been the wooden overcoat). Biggest gamble of my life for the highest stakes.

PS. The car was a Fiat Panda (old type)... those of us in Europe familiar with it will appreciate the super strong construction
