I thought Tim Burton was the perfect man to adapt Lewis Carols weird world. However I think Burton missed the point. Wonderland was meant as a place where nothing made any sense. Burton instead tries to ground Wonderland with rules and create a plot based on a traditional narrative. Alice comes home from her journey as a snooty feminist.
Bolt on the other hand is probably Disneys best fully CG title made outside of Pixar and there best animated movie period made since Lilo and Stitch.
It should also help that Bolt is native 3D (all computer animation is) while the live action of Alice in Wonderland is converted

I actually don't think Burton deserves much credit outside of the visuals for the story. It was scripted and written by Linda Woolverton nearly a year before Burton came on board. When he got there thy went into production on it lightning fast. Burton just added his unusual visual flair.
