Australia Replacing A Whole Season for 1 Disc - Opinion

I'd like people's opinion on a matter.

Last night, my sister went to watch a DVD and the disc snapped when she tried getting it off the stub. I contacted the distributor today to ask for a replacement disc and they said "No, we don't do that. You have to replace the whole season."

She went to a store and bought another copy and the counter attendant thought it was strange and not right as the company are taking her money.

Should someone have to buy a TV season all over again just to replace 1 disc?

It shouldnt be this way, but I think most companies will say the same to their customers when this happens. But they really need to change or adjust their policies on this. Perhaps something where the customer can mail them the broken disc and get a replacement? i dont know. or maybe in exchange for the broken disc they get a coupon to buy the whole set again?

You may be able to buy a replacement disc on eBay, but I don't know of any studios or stores that sell replacement discs.

Just imagine how bad it would be with something that's only sold as a complete series.

With Paramount, she had a faulty disc of Charmed and they said send back the disc and a replacement will be sent out.

With season 1 of Star Trek: TNG Blu-ray where the audio is out-of-sync on some bonus features, they say send the disc back for a replacement.

Unusual when Technicolor says Paramount doesn't do that.

I had to do that with the first season of "Smallville" a few years ago, because one of the discs cracked. Thankfully, a new copy was only $20 at Wal-Mart.
