Default Video Creation Question!

Sorry if this is the wrong category to ask this question. I just wasn't sure of where to put it.

I’ve always wondered; how do people make the video’s that you see on youtube? Meaning, how do you get the actual footage that you want to use? For instance, I love hockey. Lets say that I wanted to make a video that showed clips of one hockey player scoring all of these goals. Is there a way to transfer footage that you’ve recorded on your DVR over to your computer? Or is there a site online that you can download footage onto your computer, and edit it to your liking that way?

I want to make some video’s, but the only thing that I need to know is how to obtain the actual video.

Thanks!

there is a number of ways such as getting video from a phone or camera or camcordy lol or such as with hocky clips u can download hocky games or if your pc/laptop as a tunner which u can hook your cabel up to and get a program to record off your pc also if u have a dvd of footage u can just copy it and cut it up ect. what dvr do u have? what ports lol
