Arrow Keanu Reeves in Cowboy Bebop

Quote:
Keanu Reeves has been talking up his planned adaptation of the Japanese anime Cowboy Bebop since last summer. Who knew we were actually supposed to believe he has the pull to get his obscure passion projects made? Variety has made all the rumors official, announcing that Reeves will star in the live-action adaptation.

Reeves will play Spike Spiegel, a bounty hunter living in the year 2071 and traveling through space as part of a gang of bounty hunters. Series writer Keiko Nobumoto and producer Masahiko Minami will be part of the production, but Peter Craig, a screenwriter with pretty much no high-profile credits to his name, will take care of writing the screenplay.

I know literally nothing about Cowboy Bebop other than a poster my friend Nicole used to have on her wall in college, and I would call her for details but she's definitely asleep. So I'll have to leave it to you fine folks to tell me in the comments what I'm missing out on, and why, after The Day the Earth Stood Still, I should have anything to do with another movie that involves Keanu Reeves and outer space.

This sounds like a reasonably good casting. I'm unable to think of any other high profile actor who would seem appropriate at all here.

And he's not all just "whoa", "dude", "what is the matrix" etc. Did you see him in A Scanner Darkly? Different direction there, and I think he can handle the calm-cool style necessary to play Spike here.

Here's hoping the adaptation comes out true to form, unlike some other anime-to-live-action adaptations we've seen or are about to see in the coming months.

now lets just hope the creators and the actors have already watched the whole series at least 6 times to make it right (unlike a certain Dragonball movie coming out where i dont think any of the cast or the creators even watched the whole Dragonball series and if they had then they sure as hell did not pay attention to what was going on). I dont mind Keanu Reeves playing as Spike but i require 2 conditions 1. that he makes his hair go the right way and not make it look weird like how Goku's hair is going to be in the Dragonball movie where its totally wrong. 2. To use his acting skills to match Spike and not make it sound corny. Keanu does need to grow out his hair first because his short haircut is not going to cut this role
