Default Friday The 13th Collection

This boxset has driven me nuts! They released it in the USA awhile back, luckily it's multi region, I took the plunge and imported it, cost a fortune, watched them all and Disc 3 (FT13TH Part 3) was scratched and caused Player to crash. Anyone who knows about this boxset knows Warners packaging was a disgrace, they are housed in cardboard wallets and scratch super easy.

I spent 2 weeks trying to get a replacement disc, no joy. The seller was prepared to swap the set for a new one, but like he said, if they scratch so easy, chances are my replacement may end up with 2 or more defective discs!!

I've just ordered the UK release of Part 3, so I can switch out the bad one for the good one when it arrives, but my OCD is driving me mad lol. All the discs in the set are black prints to match the set, the UK one is white...ARRRGGH would this bother anyone else? Or am I just being an OCD freak? The actual movie is exactly the same as the US one, even right down to the menu and cut.

I take it you looked into the US single release on blu-ray?

I guess if i spent a lot on a box set i'd like all the discs to look the same.In saying that i'd have more of a problem if the new disc was missing things like extras that the scratched disc had.

It must be badly scratched if it causes the player to crash, does it get to a certain point in the movie? Does it crash at the same place in another player? Blu discs are pretty scratch resistant, can you feel the scratch on the disc surface if you run your nail over it gently? I don't know if blu rays can be polished, but I have brought DVDs and CDs into a CEX store as they have a disc polisher that can buff out scratches and they charge a euro to do it. It's worked brilliantly. I had a CD that skipped in all my players and they polished it out so it looked like new and now it works in every player. I have scratched DVDs that play just fine but I'm tempted to bring them in, just to have them perfect - but that's the day I know I've lost the battle with OCD.

Weird thing is the movie crashes my PC and crashes my Panasonic standalone at 1:09.37, but it works perfect on my 2 Samsungs upstairs. Works on 2 not on another 2.

maybe it's a firmware issue then. Scratches aren't always problematic unless, if I'm not mistaken, they refract the laser which typically sees past the scratch anyhow. People complain about wallet-based packaging but I don't see the problem. Long before people were spoilt by cd jewel cases, vinyl records came in paper bags and card "wallets" and even the slightest scratches manifested as crackle.

Not sure, the firmware on all my devices is up to date, is very weird. Is likely a pressing issue at manufacturing level.
