Hey guys,
I am waiting to receive 4 damaged Steels to convert LOTR, UP, Monsters INC and Jurassic Park Jumbo's to regular size G2 Steels and am wondering if any of you still have any spine print outs left of the users that did this. |

@FastFish,
Excuse me if this is a dumb question ![]() I've downloaded some files, but not sure how to get them to print at the correct size. I assume that they are 8mm x 154mm. Will Glossy Photo Paper be okay. Cheers |

They should be the correct size. It's actually .5mil large around but that is to compensate for blade thickness & ensure you don't have any white paper showing; because you're cutting into the image. All the spine art should account for this slight trim. I made them exact scale before but is too easy to have minor flaws & the spine normally would be trimmed too thin.
I print on glossy hard stock. I'm working on the road right now so don't have the actual stock number in front of me. I use a local copy shop to print these out for me on their commercial printer. Got much better results than mine at home would. I also use a paper trimmer for exact cuts rather than a knife, but that's just preference. Hope this helps. |

Okay. I'm downloading the Gangs Of New York 8.5" X 11" file and loading it into Gimp 2.6. Then print, and the spine art is only about half the size I need. There must be something else I'm doing wrong, or I don't know about.

Well first thing is to double check scale of image in Gimp then. It should be 8.5in x 11in or 8500x11000 pixels.
As long as you use 1:1 & not scaling image it should print fine. I just downloaded file & double checked, but it's set up correct. |

I can only upload into this site unless I sign up. Don't really want to sign up to yet another site, so thanks for your efforts, but I'll just keep the spines that I have got.
EDIT: I have sorted it out now. Printing to scale at last. Cheers Last edited by PS3_Kiwi; 02-12-2012 at 02:53 AM. |
