Default Tis the Season to be Blu

Im sure a thread like this has already gone up, but im going to write this anyway. This needs to be heard, and repeated...over and over again.

Now is the time. NOW is the time for you to support Blu-Ray during this most important holiday season.

You can do this anyway you want. Personally, Ive asked for NOTHING but Blu-Ray for Christmas, and plan on spending all my money on it after the fact. Warner is rumored to weigh the options of exclusivity after the shopping season and I personally dont want the 55+ titles on my shelf to become anything less than a paperweights in the future.

Im not at all worried about BRDs "disappearing", im simply stating that if there is a time to "strike" in this format war with the obvious "buying power" Blu supporters have IT IS NOW. And be "real" about it. All you "Purple Nerples" as someone on these boards have dubbed, you "dual format" supporters, seriously, pick a side. Stick with it. You are the reason this war is enduring. Sorry, but thats a true story. Maybe you arent the ONLY reason it is, but you arent helping the situation.

Im not a "fanboy". Im simply someone who has chosen, and is sticking with their decision. I see Blu-Ray as a product that is the "next step" in format generation, not just an upgraded technology. Though, maybe Ive taken it to the extreme with my “choice”, but SO HAVE THE STUDIOS.

I currently own 550 movie titles on SD-DVD, and since, have abandoned the format for the future of HD entertainment, (Blu-Ray if you haven’t been paying attention). I have chosen my side, and I like many of you have gone from annoyed to angry at corrupt studios more interested in supporting a dying cheap product for their own pride, rather for any real business decision. (I could REALLY go into this, but thats not what this is about)

Because of Universal's decision to not end the war when they could have, for Paramount’s decision to switch over and abandon their consumers all for the sake of a CORRUPT payout, I have ALSO "chosen" to boycott these studios. Im not saying you need to do the same, but they turned their backs on me, and I have done the same. I do not own Transformers. My wife told me she wants Shrek for Christmas, I told her she could ask for it from someone else. I do not go see these studios' movies in theaters (Not even Beowulf); I do not buy their products on SD-DVD. I do not, and WILL NOT, give them a dime until they support the format that I have chosen. Plain and simple.

Weve all read the "let the consumers decide" rants, but weve already seen what they HAVE decided. Yet somewhere, someone, continues to let this war endure. Im not pointing fingers, and all I AM saying is....chose your side. Stick with it, however you want to go about it. One way or the other, youre just throwing your money away. And support Blu this holiday season.

HAHA im a purple nurple, that sounds funny. Seriously though i only buy HD DVD's if its some huge exclusive title. The last one i purchased was Transformers on the day it was released, i havent bought one since. I think i own 2 or 3 times more blu ray dvds than hd dvds.
At the start I was a huge HDDVD supporter but as time went on i started leaning towards blu, not really sure why, i guess i just have a gut feeling that blu is gonna take over. Im even thinking about selling my hddvd player.

Default Great Post!!!

I have a ton of Blu films coming within the next couple of weeks and expect to be completely broke by the end of the year, but I am ok with that. I never supported the opposing and losing format and never will.

I admit I have not been a huge Blu buyer but understand that over here, there is little choice and high prices. However I recently purchased Two movies on Amazon.com (troy and 2001) because I have heard they will play on my region B PS3. Now I must wait for them to come and it wont be before mid december. If this goes well, I'll get more movies from amazon + some more blurays that come out here as the stuff is slowly beginning to show up in the Brussels store shelves. (I might get the harry potter films when they become available over here on Blu)

I already have all my family and friends buying Blu for me this Christmas, but as for Beowulf it is WB over here and should also be out on Blu here too so will be getting it when it comes out
Hopefully with the mass Blu buys this Christmas WB will become Blu only

Some people may have seen my story but I bought a Xbox 360 and HD-DVD addon to play games and watch HD-DVD movies. The Xbox 360 froze 4 times the 2nd night while playing 2 different games. I also read about the well known xbox 360 problems that according to youtube videos still aren't fixed. Plus its noisy as hell and I had to buy the $100 wifi attachment just to get online. (I don't feel like drilling holes and running 15-20 feet of cable).

Make a long story short I took it all back and got a 40gig PS3 with 2 games and 4 Blu-Ray movies to start. Since then I have bought 11 more from Amazon, Frys, and Walmart.

I support Blu !! haha

That's why I'm buying the 5 separate HP (Harry Potter) Warner titles, as opposed to the box set, because I know Warner is a key to this, and they're watching the numbers this season very closely.

Love or hate Warner, they are key, and at least they didn't pull a Universal or worse a Paramount! There are so many good Blu titles to choose from this holiday season/4th quarter, but to me, none are more important right now than the 5 HP ones, because those who are HD-DVD fans, only have those and a few others to choose from, and thus concentrate all their Buying Power on. I think we need to prove Blu's buying Buying Power and showing we have the numbers, by using our wallets wisely.

And for the "purple nurples", please buy the Blu version of HP Warner titles and help end this war quickly so we can all have everything available in high-def, like Star Wars, LOTR, etc. Hopefully by now you can see the writing on the wall for HD-DVD. Just a matter of when, which is something we can help decide!

Old HDDVD players must be DESTROYED! No reselling! The situation won't change, the only difference is that the new buyer will be buying HDDVDs intead of you. Plus, if what you've said is true, that you have in fact learned to curb your HDDVD movie buying, then you keeping the player is much better for blu-ray than selling it to someone that will be buying red cases on a weekly basis.

Take me for example, I'm buying up all the 360 HD DVD add ons I can find and storing them in my closet so HDDVD fan boys can't buy them. Better me to have one (actually 9) than an HDDVDer who buys movies every week.

LOL (just joking on the last paragraph)

Go blu-ray!
In the words of a very frustrated Warhawk PvPer, "Push forward, you dumbasses!"

Trust me...I've more than done my part over the last couple of weeks. December is gonna kill my wallet with the blu rays but it'll be worth it. Believe me, they're gonna get quite the cash load from me starting on the 4th. I need this week as a break.

funny how you mention "fanboy"...

because I made my decision based on what I figured to be the better format and only want one format....so I am sticking with my decision based on that...

and what makes it even more genuine...I don't really have any desire to buy an HD-DVD player except when it was for 98 bucks at walmart and the same day I saw TF on display at Sears or some shit...

after that was over...everything went back to normal....and it was really only for one title...
