A link about the movie being almost one of the first 3D musicals I see according to this info above. I didn't spot any home release news though. I haven't seen this movie yet. I can imagine they went for strong 3D like a lot of the classic 3D films.

Wardrobe tests for KISS ME KATE were shown in New York on September 9, 1953 with the Moropticon single-strip 3-D system. I wonder if those survive?

Very surprised that no one has mentioned that Kiss Me Kate's Technicolor dual-strip 3-D is in the 1.75:1 (intended ratio). Maximizing the FULL SCREEN 1080P area on 16x9 3D Displays.

MGM went 100% widescreen on May 4, 1953 and KATE began filming on May 11.

AWESOME! Really wanted to see this movie for a long time. From my understanding it was a great musical, along with being a great 3D film and a pioneering one. Can't wait to watch it and I seriously need to start collecting classic 3D films lol

I hear ya mseeley. BIG reason why I'm getting a region free blu player isn't for Disney 3D titles, but for titles like Inferno!!

Great news. I loove 3D movies from the 50's, and a musical will be so sweet to see.

Excellent news! I've always wanted to see this in 3D, but never thought I'd be able to! I'm so glad to see more of these classics coming out, and I hope people are buying them.

So far we've got:

50's:

- House of Wax
- Creature from the Black Lagoon
- Dial M For Murder
- Man in the Dark
- Inferno
- The Bubble (coming soon!)
- Kiss Me Kate (coming soon!)
- 3D Rarities (Flicker Alley - coming soon!)

80's:

- Amityville 3D

Keep 'em coming! There's plenty of 'em out there.

Excellent news. This film has a great 3D reputation. I'm excited to see it.

Seems like Hondo should be next on the "Most Wanted" list (and maybe a region-free release of Inferno).

Is it realistic to think they will release a region free Inferno in the near future???

For some unknown reason, Fox will not license it for Region 1 release in 3-D. Twilight Time has tried multiple times.

What's the story on 3D Rarities? What is included on that one?

Nevermind, I see the dedicated thread.

BTW, Inferno WILL play on Region A players- just select Title 1 when the "wrong region" screen comes up.

Oppo BDP-93. I have the region-select mod for it, but I watched the movie with the player still set to region A. Should work on any other player as well. They usually lock out the Title Select control on the "wrong region" screens, but they forgot to for this one
