USA Is there any advantage to having an advanced Preamplifier

I currently own a Pioneer Elite sc-37 when it came out in 2010 it was there flashghip receiver it was also the last generation of Elite receiver to use ICE amps. About a year ago I bought a emotiva XPA-5 power amplifier. Now my receiver is basically being used a preamplifier. I know that marantz and integra both make really good preamps and emotiva claims to be coming out with the XMC-1 soon (been saying that for years lol) Would I gain anything audio wise if I were to get a top of line preamp? I only concerned about the audio I already know that a newer preamp is going to have all kinds of online features but I already get that from blu ray player. What really confuses me is that Marantz flagship preamp costs almost twice as it other current preamp. Why would a preamp cost 3600?
