Just bought my 1020 yesterday (5/16) at Best Buy for $549.99 + tax. Haven't gotten a really good chance to play with it yet, but I am happy with it so far. The GUI for setting it up is so nice. And the Auto MCACC is awesome.
This is a quote from the manual, "The Auto MCACC Setup measures the acoustic characteristics of your listening area, taking into account ambient noise, speaker connection and speaker size, and tests for both channel delay and channel level. ... the reciever ises the information from a series of test tones to optimize the speaker settings and equalization for your particular room." This is a big step up from my last receiver which is about 10 years old and I paid about $800 for it then. |

Any of you know when in June will the vsx-1120-k be released?
![]() Also, just noticed this about specs: Power per channel (8ohm) RMS 120 W Power per channel (6ohm) RMS No Power per channel (4ohm) RMS No Will this be a problem for some Def Tech BP-7002s? C/L/R 2500? I hope not ![]() Last edited by frank75fl; 05-17-2010 at 03:09 PM. |

Hey guys, silly question here. For those who own the 1020, are there controls to adjust treble and bass? The only adjustment I made on the receiver was the Auto MCACC. Are there any other adjustments to make the speakers even more calibrated/sound better? Thanks!

I run all of my music from my computer so I use PLIIx Music for that and I switch to PLIIx Movie when I watch movies from the computer. My PS3 outputs as PCM when I'm using that. The various listening modes should get you the bass and treble combos you want in different scenarios once you tweak the system to your liking. |

Also, I was watching Terminator Salvation with my 1020 cranked up to -4.0db during that gas station scene that lasted like 5 -7 minutes or so. I stopped the movie to check on my receiver for heat, and it was kinda warm/slightly hot when placing my hand on over the top vents. The thing is, I'm running 6 ohm speakers to my 1020, which is an 8 ohm receiver. Is this a problem? Is that heat for that volume normal? Any input would be great. Thanks. |

I just took a look at your sig. Are you using those Sony HTIB speakers with that receiver? If you are that is a very bad idea. Sony HTIB speakers are usually 6ohm and in some cases they are 3ohm. Not only that, but some HTIB speakers are designed to work only with the receiver they come with. My old Pioneer HTIB was like this and the instructions clearly warned that you shouldn't use the speakers with any other receiver because of their design. They like most HTIB speakers are proprietary, and there is a good chance of damaging your receiver or even starting a fire should you use those speakers with a receiver other than the one that came with them.

The speakers I'm using ARE from my old Sony HTiB, with the exception of the subwoofer, because you can't use a passive sub with the Pioneer. Those speakers are definitely 6 ohms, and I've always wondered about using the HTiB with my new receiver. I want to replace all of them with some new speakers, it's just a matter of time. I think that if I don't crank my receiver too much then I should be safe. What do you think?
