United Kingdom Witness - 17th February 2014

Paramount will be releasing Witness starring Harrison Ford and directed by Peter Weir on the 17th February 2014

Listed on Amazon, but not available for pre-order yet:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Witness-Blu-...I2O3RAZBE55Z78

When a young Amish boy (Lukas Haas) witnesses a murder in a big city train station, detective Jon Book (Harrison Ford) is given the job of protecting him. Suspecting that the murder was part of a police conspiracy, Book retreats to the small farming community where the boy lives. As time passes, and despite massive cultural difference, the detective falls in love with the boy's widowed mother (Kelly McGillis). 'Witness', the first Hollywood film from Australian director Peter Weir, was nominated for eight Oscars and won two (editing and original screenplay).

I agree.

People always remember Indy and Han Solo but Harrison Ford has starred in some great movies that perhaps aren't as famous now as when they were released.

Witness is one of those.

At least by waiting so long, the UK should get a BD of FRANTIC from the corrected master made for the second pressing in the US. All other countries got the incorrect first US version. For a detailed description of the defect (incorrect English language audio track) check out my review of the disc here or at Amazon, or in the thread for the disc.

I love Frantic too. I usually watch the DVD a couple of times a year but having a HD version would be great.

With Witness I've always wondered whether the ending was made up of B-Roll footage as we see Harrison smoking and talking with the other actors from a distance. I don't think John Book smokes at all for the rest of the film.

This is the best blu-ray news I've read recently.

This is one of my favorite Harrison Ford movies and IMHO it is among his best films.....sorry Star Wars nerds.

Day one purchase for me.

I hope to hear news of a release for Regarding Henry sometime in the near future.

Pre orders are now up at Sainsburys (£13.99) and Play (£16.43), hopefully those prices will come down over the next 3 months or when Amazon pre order goes on.

You are crazy to pre order Paramount back catalogue in the UK as the prices are normally £12+ but within days of release the price usually falls to around the £8 level. I guess they feel they can get a premium off the film fans but then need a more realistic price to shift stock later.

Yeah I'm gonna wait for a price-drop for this one, no way am I paying over a tenner for a probable bare-bones disc...
