Night Moves (Soda Pictures) - 11th January 2015

From director Kelly Reichardt, and in selected cinemas as of this week, is her newest film Night Moves - starring Jesse Eisenberg, Dakota Fanning and Peter Sarsgaard. Soda Pictures yet again handle her newest feature - after handling DVD releases of her previous films, and most recently a blu-ray set of her first 4 features ('The Kelly Reichardt Collection').



Release date: 12th January 2015

From the synopsis:

Three radical environmentalists come together to execute the most intense protest of their lives: the explosion of a hydroelectric dam – the very source and symbol of the energy-sucking, resource-devouring industrial culture they despise. Night Moves is a tale of suspense and a meditation on the consequences of political extremism. Auteur director Kelly Reichardt retains her distinctive style while incorporating genre elements.

Excited for this one personally! Unfortunately the nearest cinema to me showing this is Bristol and I doubt I'll be travelling there until about 3 weeks from now.

I keep thinking Wow, Night Moves - Arthur Penn/Gene Hackman is out.
I mean, couldn't she have called it something else....

Aah! Don't do this to me Rapta. I thought the Penn/Hackman was finally coming to the UK. Then its a Warners title so I guess I won't hold my breath.

I'm really looking forward to this one though as well as the Kelly Reichardt boxset.

Do you have a Picturehouse near you? They are doing a showing of it near the end of October.

Yeah Harbour Lights. I did see that but I usually end up missing those...guess I'll either have to go to Bristol earlier or catch the one-off showing in Southampton. Bit of a bummer HL aren't picking this up for general programming though...hasn't everyone seen Boyhood by now?

Still in my top 10 of 2014. Hope this gets dispatched soon but my luck with Zavvi has been pretty bad of late (they still haven't dispatched my copy of The Rover).

Interested in that short film...apparently it's featured in the film at some point (I can't remember which scene though).

Not watched the short yet, but just watched the movie. I think the short is from the start where they are sitting watching a film with about 10 other people.

PQ is excellent btw.

EDIT: It is indeed that clip. In the film you don't see much of the short as the camera focuses on people in the crowd, particularly Eisenberg.

Yes, the short film is the environmentalists' short from the beginning, which was put together (and kindly supplied to us) by Larry Fessenden. So if you want an edition with extras, ours is the way to go!

I really wanted to see it last year but the showing was cancelled at the last minute. I'll be getting it on Monday, the day after my birthday which btw is the 12th not the 11th, unless it comes out on Sunday?
