Default Marvel's El Muerto coming in 2024

Bad Bunny Unveiled as New Marvel Hero ‘El Muerto’ for Sony Pictures

Quote:
Introduced by Sony Motion Pictures Group president Sanford Panitch at CinemaCon, the annual gathering of movie theater owners in Las Vegas, Ocasio will be the first ever Latino actor to headline a live-action Marvel movie.

Known as Juan-Carlos Estrada Sanchez in the comics, El Muerto is a wrestler whose powers are handed down by ancestry in the form of a mask (which, according to Marvel’s official site, gives him superhuman strength). In past comic narratives, El Muerto has gotten in the ring with Spider-Man himself. On stage at CinemaCon, Sony brass suggested Ocasio will portray an antihero on the verge of inheriting his father’s power.

Unless they really screw up the story, tho. If they do it will not be popular, probably.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA...

And some people STILL think Spidey's in good hands at Sony!

He's been in 3 issues total!

Literally never heard of the star or the character, and I think of myself as decently knowledgeable on Spidey universe. Forget Morbius or Madame Web (characters who I certainly knew of but would not think are big enough to warrant their own films usually unlike Venom), this is really going to the bottom of the barrel.

All Sony has to do is have him getting in the ring with Spidey at least once in the movie and it will be HUGE.

Never heard of this character before......I'm interested.

Besides, I didn't freak out and go "WTF NO ONE ASKED FOR THIS SCREW THIS" with something like Agatha House Of Harkness. And I'm not gonna do it with this.

Besides, if they embrace the Mexican wrestler aspect of it like an El Santo film, this might be a blast.

Depending on whether Blue Beetle keeps it's 2023 release date.

Mainstream seems new, unless you count say The Mask of Zorro (which is on Wikipedia’s list of superhero films), but have been indies/smaller films.

In fact there is another Latino superhero comic book movie with the same title already

I'd consider El Santo, Blue Demon, Mil Máscaras, etc superheroes in their respective movies.

It definitely reads like a satire of that implosion of spin-offs that wound up burying The Amazing Spider-Man series (remember that Aunt May movie they pitched).

I’ll take any of Sony’s Spider-Man movies over any of the ones they did with Marvel. Spider-Man 2 is still the best one. As for this, I’ll keep an open mind.

That faint sound you hear is Sony scraping the bottom of the Marvel barrel...
