The newest version of the Step Up movies, Step Up All In has been given a November 5 release date, but no 3D release. These movies aren't everyone's taste but the 3D in them is normally very strong.
So Liongate can toss their name into the mix of companies not releasing a 3D movie on 3D Blu here in the States. Because the 3D version can be ordered on Amazon UK and I would imagine other vendors as well. This is getting nuts as the list of movies being held back in the US is growing bigger all the time. ![]() |

Wow..this is really a surprise as Lionsgate has been a big proponent of 3d/2d blu-ray hybrids (Texas Chainsaw, Dredd, Nurse). Then again I paid $5 for a new copy of Step Up 3D from Disney and $10 for a new 3d copy of Step Up Revolution from Summit..

Do you have confirmation that this will be a 2D-only release? Most of Lionsgates' prior 3D titles have been single-inventory and single-disc, with all discs playable in 2D, which is how EVERY company should have been handling them! The Step Up movies have been great in 3D so far and I've been looking forward to this one, though I haven't seen any in the theaters and I heard this one didn't do so well there at all (hmm, could it maybe be the high ticket prices for 3D?)
I'd read somewhere that the latest Transformers movie wasn't getting a 3D release either but it is, so not panicking on this one just yet. |

So maybe something will happen over the next few weeks but it looks like this may be yet another title that 3D fans have to order from overseas. |

Blu-ray Grand Duke

This most recent Step Up didn't do well in the US theaters box office wise from what I saw awhile back, so I can imagine why they might want to save money if they can by ditching a 3D version. It's disappointing to have a 3D version filmed and not have the option to watch it at home.
It does cost more to set up a 3D blu ray in addition to a standard 2D blu ray, but costs have gone down quite a bit since blu ray 3D first appeared years ago. The costs of printing 3D blu ray discs and sending them to market however, still affect their budget. Though I haven't seen these dance movies, they should offer a limited edition 3D version with maybe 10,000 prints in the US, and if those sell, maybe they could make more? |

Doesn't sound promising. I e-mailed Lions Gate and got this response...
Dear Doombear,I mailed them again to ask if the Blu-ray would contain a 3D version...

Our UK release: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Step-Up-All-...ords=step+up+5
Has a Universal logo on the side so there's a very strong chance it will region free? I'll probably be picking this up day one. |

Has anyone seen this one in 3D, and if so, how was it? I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on the UK 3D region free version since it doesn't appear to be available in the U.S.
