Ah I see. Easy pass, though. No new bonuses = no real reason to buy it. Plus I prefer the extended cuts of The Hobbit.

I guess this is their way of cashing in on the 15th anniversary? Thought they'd make that more explicit.

Jackson has said a few times they're planning an ultimate boxset with new features (e.g. proper blooper reel).

This could be it (with an EE version coming later), remember there's been no images or proper announcement of this yet.

Gotta imagine we'd get a bigger announcement then some random, barebones Amazon listing. Maybe Amazon put it up prematurely, but still, this looks like a basic repackage. Would love to be proven wrong, though.

Yeah the info for THAT one has extended cuts and digital copies of both theatrical and extendeds for all six movies

Ah, I was wondering when a tat-filled 'wizard's collection' style complete set would emerge. It comes with a SHELF, oh mai. I think I'll be passing on this one.

30 discs?! And a shelf?! Although those faux-leather books sound good...

Sounds like what WB did with that Harry Potter chest a few years ago. I know this won't be $800, but if it was ever in the $200 or less range... I might be swayed to bite for the new swag.

No disc-based extras, though. That's the most important takeaway.

Good point about Jackson often talking of doing a true ultimate edition set, with additional extras and deleted footage, among much else. You'd hate to fork out for this and then Warner to put out something better in a couple of years... I mean, the physical side of it sounds great but you'd hope for some new extras as an extra incentive.

I want to see some photos of this. It sounds really cool with the books and shelf but I'd not spend $800 on it. I really love the films and books and do want an awesome set like this but can't justify that price when there's so many other releases I want.

The faux leather books sound like they could be pretty nice but I'd rather they ditched the shelf to drive the price down a bit.

this is probably just the existing Blu rays packaged together. Doubt it is the Ultimate Editions Jackson has talked about
