Default US Hdvd exclusives available on Blu-ray overseas?

All,

Sorry if this has already been covered. Is there a list of US HD-DVD exclusive titles that are available on Blu-ray internationally?

There are literally tons of HD DVD exclusives in America that can be imported on Blu-ray overseas. Check the following website:

http://bluray.liesinc.net/

It lists what titles are region free from overseas. Also remember that Japan and North America share the same region code so every Japanese Blu-ray will play in a North American player.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe I read here or at AVS that Tomb Raider 2 has non-removable German subtitles.

If it's been confirmed that this is not the case please point me in the right direction as I'd love to add that disc to my collection then.

You can remove the German subtitles. There is however one scene where Lara is on the boat with a Chinese family and she is talking in chinese. There is about two lines of German subtitles and thats it.

It's not 100% guarantee, but it looks we might get Beowulf the new CG movie on Blu. I just saw it tonight at the theater in Japan, and it is distributed by Warner Bros. We all know they release Blu, so seems there might be a good chance on getting this one sometime next year if you don't mind a Japan import (which is still region A for Americans).

So, because there are hd dvds that can be imported as blu-rays, does that mean that there are blu-rays that can also be imported as hd duds for the other camps?

yes. What happens is that different studios have different distributors/studios in different regions for example Bruce all mighty is Universal in the US but BVHE (Disney) in the UK. On the other hand with HD DVD losing extremely bad elsewhere, it will become harder and harder for them while easier and easier for us.

Though I was already sold on Blu Ray before joining this forum, this thread just sold me even more. Now, I see absolutely NO REASON to even consider HD-DVD. Yay!
