USA Jack Hill's Pit Stop (1969) coming from Arrow Video

Arrow just announced a US release of Jack Hill's Pit Stop. They previously released it in the UK

I'm expecting Arrow's US release will get delayed by a rights dispute. The film was already licensed to Code Red by Roger Corman (https://www.facebook.com/CodeRedDvd/...42522472473598). Arrow's release is presumably licensed from Jack Hill, who had responded to Code Red's announcement last year that he holds all the rights.

And if that does get resolved, there's also this:

What's that Calum Waddell post? Was that directed at Code Red, or Arrow, or what?

Arrow. It's on their Facebook post for Pit Stop.

I've been waiting for a US release of this film, but knowing the ridiculousness that is Code Red, if they throw a wrench into the works, it wouldn't surprise me.

I'd much rather see this from Arrow. Hopefully they can also get the special features issues sorted out. But if they don't, I suppose importing is always an option, since the UK disc is region free.

It will get worked out. Same thing happened to The Visitor. Code Red had the domestic rights and Drafthouse announced a blu-ray. Code Red claimed they still had 3 years left on their contract with Ovidio Assonitis.

It was there. Must have been deleted. Here's a tweet saying the same thing:

So, I assume "High Rising" made the features for the UK arrow disc? And now this guy's mad they're using them on the US disc and wants them to yank the features for some reason (I'm guessing either they didn't pay him a second time, or he has a raging hatred of the United States)? Or did he make features for the Code Red disc (in which case this certainly is more understandable).

Calum Waddell posted the following at the cult-labs forum

Quote:
We never gave Arrow Video permission to use our extras on Pit Stop (USA) or our Nekromantik piece on the USA edition of this. In fact we have an email from Alex Agran confirming that he would not use our stuff on any foreign editions in future in exchange for a deal we made on Mark of the Devil.

I honoured this deal and just this week had Synapse ask for our stuff on Tenebrae and Phenomena. If I see our material on Pit Stop or Nekromantik then Synapse win big time.

Really offended by this treatment of us.

Why jump to conclusions with the 'raging hatred of the US' stuff? That's uncalled for. It sounds like a simple dispute to me. Rights contracts exist for a a reason. If you got paid to make a blu-ray extra, and it got used beyond the terms of your agreement, you'd make waves too. No one but the people involved know the truth of this yet.

Of course they did. If Code Red does release it, it will most likely be a bare-bones release that costs twice as much as anything Arrow would have put out, making importing the region-free UK Arrow disc a no-brainer.

Looks like it's a co-release with Kino and features a decent special features package and new HD transfer. Will be a wide release at a normal price.

Two of the extras are from the region-free UK Arrow disc:

Quote:
On-camera interview with co-star Sid Haig
On-camera interview with producer Roger Corman
This is new:

Quote:
Watch with Drive-in Hostess for Trivia
These (apparently) won't be included:

Quote:
New audio commentary with Jack Hill moderated by his biographer Calum Waddell
Crash and Burn! Jack Hill on the making of Pit Stop
And certainly not:

Quote:
Restoring Pit Stop - restoration demonstration by Technical Supervisor James White

Unless the Haig and Corman interviews are new ones (as per High Rising's apparent agreement not to license the extras for overseas usage).

I was jokingly suggesting reasons that he could have posted that. I don't get it and wanted to know if anyone else did. Saying "why would he do that" sounded less entertaining to me than "why would he do that UNLESS [possible scenario, ludicrous scenario]"

I read that as the commentary track will be a "UK exclusive", ie. not present on the US version. Arrow may well have kept their word.

Edited to add: I don't see any mentioning of a US version of Nekromantik in the Arrow announcement. I think Arrow needs to be more clear in their language about what are UK and what are US releases, it's clearly causing some confusion.

That's because there isn't an Arrow USA Nekromantik release. They made it pretty clear when they announced the titles in the following order: 5 UK-only (Video and Academy), 1 US-only and 2 dual territory titles. Read the FB or Twitter posts, it's not that hard to follow. They probably couldn't make it anymore clear as to which are which.
