2016 World Series Champions: Chicago Cubs (2016)

I notice that there will be a 2016 World Series Champions: The Chicago Cubs 2 disk COMBO blu ray set. Does anyone know if that will be included in the larger set Chicago Cubs 2016 World Series Collector's Edition 8 disk [Blu-ray] that goes for a little more?

From the previous releases of the World Series sets I would assume that both are different. That's what I'm taking from what I read. Would be nice if they were all in one.

Does the 8 disc collector's edition contain everything from the 2 disc set?

SF's reply: No--the 8 disc set is the complete, unedited games. The 2-disc set is the season highlight film.

This is a bummer. I don't want to buy both.

Actually there wasn't a blu-ray release for the Sox but a dvd set was released with complete games in 2006 which I own.

I am Chicago Cubs fan(and Chicago sports fan in general and own all the dvds and or blu-rays of the Bears, Bulls, Sox, and Blackhawks) and Im beyond excited to own this combo of the 2016 World Series as well as the collectors edition with complete games(I hear you can tune out Joe Buck). These are my most anticipated blu-rays ever. I can't stop watching the replay of the Chicago Cubs winning the World Series. That will never get old for me and it always makes me emotional. December 6th and 13 can't get here soon enough.

Will either of these releases have the Championship parade and rally footage from Chicago that lasts approximately four hours?

I hope so as that was historic too but I don't think the 8 disc set will have the parade. If anything I think it would be the highlight film that does. Both Blackhawks highlights films had footage of the parade but then again they were done and released by different studios. I believe the highlights film will also come with a digital copy too .

I wonder if there is any recorded footage of Jason Heyward's speech during the rain delay. I would like to see that.

Best Buy says the msrp on the collectors set is $59.99 and on Shout, here and Amazon, it says $79.99. I wonder if BB will go lower on release week than $49, as they sometimes take $20 off msrp on release week. BB also screwed up the pics on the sets.

I thought the 8 disc collector's edition would have the same content as the 2 disc, plus the 7 game series. I want the whole thing in one package, not two separate releases.

Yeah, I don't know what Shout was thinking. CE releases are supposed to have everything, no? It is nice that they allow different audio options, so I can watch the games and listen to Pat and Ron instead of Joe Buck.. Shout also says the 8 disc set has a slipcover, but the 2 disc does not.

Thanks - I'm going to try and track this down. I have 2 different DVD releases I bought around that time but neither has complete games.

I agree. But it appears the 8-disc Collector's Edition will only include all seven (7) World Series games and the final (1) NLCS game. If you want the "film that covers the season highlights with narration" you'll have to buy the other one as well. (Which sounds like a 2-disc set, but it's really just one as it is a combo Blu-ray/DVD.)

Yes it would have been great if it all came in one package but if you look at all world series collectors editions from previous years(which were released by different studios), none of them included the highlights film. The highlights films were always sold separate.

One question I have is if the digital copy will be redeemable on itunes or vudu? I really really hope so but all signs point to no since Transformers the Movie and the Last Unicorn which were Shout Factory releases were not.

I also wish that Game 4 of the NLDS would be included in the 8 disc set but it probably wont be.
