I thought I'd share a bit about this disc and about some of the content.
From the original launch of EYEPOP-3D I had listed a compilation disc on the website - with the original plan being creating a very random compilation with natively 3D shot introductions between the sections - almost like an old TV magazine style format. The idea was to have content like comedy shorts, classic cliff hanger episodes, cartoons, old adverts, old film trailers, etc and to build an entertaining show from them. This however evolved into looking at specific themed content the first of which is the disc which has been released focussing on predominantly surreal, experimental art films with a few highly unique creative eccentricities thrown in for luck. There are currently two other themes being considered and content compiled for and if there's sufficient demand we'll certainly be seeing a CC Vol.2 & hopefully a CC vol.3. I believe the content on this disc, albeit from well aged and challenging public domain source material is well worth watching - I'd even suggest watching these films in 2D first if you haven't already seen them and then rewatching in 3D - it's an intriguing experience seeing what 3D brings to them. In particular I would suggest watching the more experimental animated abstract designs as the difference in 2D to 3D is a revelation, well certainly for me it was. As many of these films are silent it should also be noted that new soundtracks have been created for some - specifically on "Un Chien Andalou" where a complex, surreal & experimental soundtrack has been created to enhance the visual experience, whilst others have had specially selected creative commons music edited into sequences appropriate for the films. I do hope you'll support and enjoy this disc - I believe it's unlike anything else on the market. |

This is definitely for me. There’s a guy online who does dvd-r releases and with each purchase, he sends a free “sampler” disc which is packed with bizarre trailers and segments from shows I’ve never heard of. They’re always very entertaining and this sounds very similar. Count me in.

Got this in over the weekend. Absolutely delightful! The incredible experimental animated short PERMUTATIONS alone is worth the price of admission, with 3-D so strong (in both depth and popout) and so brilliantly implemented that I’d swear it was Silver Age native. Amazing work. But all the shorts included here are gems. Excellent blind buy, highly recommended, purchase it immediately if not sooner. Can’t wait for Volume 2!

I watched the disc last night, Permutations was the clear highlight of the disc for me but the other animations had their moments too. The new dimensions transform these works. The surprises were the oldest segments, with a fixed camera the 3D worked very well. I actually preferred the new soundtrack for Un Chien Andalou.
I am not sure how keen I am on bending text though, pulling it out into a triangle always seems a bit of a cheap effect, like 90's morphing. And hair continues to be a challenge to convert it seems. I'd happily buy another volume. If you liked 3-D Rarities, check it out. |

Just a quick note for our non USA based international customers: Kunaki has paused shipping international orders and has advised there will be an increase in the international shipping cost.
We're yet to get more info than this an will update you when we get more details. This is obviously very disappointing and we apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. |

Thank-you. As an FYI the Gumroad site still insists on a US address for downloads.
'The creator cannot ship the product to the country you have selected.' I had to change my Paypal address to a US address for the transaction to clear. |

I think that is it fixed - really they need checked and redone as they are not seen as purely digital items by the system... but as with all of this as a small team there's just not enough hours in a day.
