Why has it taken Paramount this long to release this in the US? They released it back in February here in Canada. Strange.

I will buy this, but I'm longing for another big screen SpongeBob adventure in the 2D animation of the series and first film and not 3D CG animation like the two sequel films.

I'm also disappointed that there are no 4K UHD editions of any of the films and Blu-rays for the series, especially "Season 9" (the first entirely in HD, if I recall) onwards. If Nickelodeon / Paramount can release other shows on Blu-ray, they can release SpongeBob SquarePants on Blu-ray. I think the only non-film Blu-ray is that one-off special which was done in stop-motion animation.

Because it didn’t premiere here in the US until early March when Paramount + launched.

It launched on Paramount+ in the states. For whatever reason, Paramount doesn’t have streaming rights to SpongeBob in Canada yet.

For what it's worth, the Canadian Blu-ray release, which came out back in February, does have a digital copy included.

it was released as a "paramount+ original" in March in the US, in Canada it was released in theaters in August. Viacom really messed up the release of the film and it looks like it doesn't even have a digital copy with the blu-ray, and it's not even on any digital store for rent anymore so i'm very concerned they'll be hogging it digitally on their dumb streaming service.

This Blu-ray should be coming out tomorrow! I'm disappointed that there is no 4K release or any store exclusive versions. But I'm looking forward to getting this, it sure would be great if Paramount released season sets of SpongeBob SquarePants on Blu-ray too!
