Default Do you buy double/triple feature packs?

I was just wonder what is everyone's opinion on those double/triple feature packs that just include the discs and not individual cases.

Personally, I've been really digging these packs as a cheap way to expand the collection. On top of that, if you have a decent printer you can print off your own covers (either custom or scans of the original) and throw them in their own BR case if you prefer not having T2, Total Recall and Red Heat in one case. However for me there are exceptions: the Die Hard collection and TMNT triple pack are two that I found better to leave as one. Whereas the Predator 1 & 2 double pack I split up as single releases to match the Predators single release (not to mention the actual case they come in is ugly.

So are their others like me who split up the packs into single releases to make organizing your collection easier?

No.

I prefer to have individual movie titles displayed in my collection.

Yep. So long as the pack isn't inferior to an individual release for some reason.

I haven't bought many of them though because often they contain something I already have.

If it's two movies that make sense together, sure (like Sister Act I & II), but when they just slap random comedies or action movies together (and I only want to own one of them), then no.

The again, sometimes these packages are the only way a movie will ever be released on blu-ray, so I'll begrudgingly buy them. Spies Like Us/Funny Farm comes to mind. I wanted Spies Like Us, but really had no use for Funny Farm. But the chances of a standalone Spies Like Us are pretty slim, so I just picked it up. Super cheap, and I got a bonus movie that I'll maybe watch every now and again.

Yes.

You can pick up the Warner Brothers Triple Features at Walmart for $15. $5 a movie is the sweet spot for me.

Yep, that's how I feel. The only thing is, I have found myself staying away from Warner titles hoping they might show up in a triple feature with another title or two I might want.

I've done it a few times with DVD's, but not BD's. The exception being the Wal Mart Harry Potter 2 movie sets. I don't know why, but I always worry that the transfer is inferior compared to a single movie. I know, I know, it is probably the same, but I'm trying not to go nuts with my collection like I did with DVD's. So I'm a bit more cautious with BD's because of it.

Only when I dont think they'll be released individually. Spies Like Us, Bloodsport, Analyze This, Kelly's Heroes for example.

If I like both movies, sure, or at least 2 of 3 in the triple packs. I'd rather save money than worry about where it's going to go on my shelf.

The Die Hard movies shouldn't be counted with those double/triple features, it's a collection box set.

I've only bought one double feature, and it was for The Matrix sequels. It was very cheap for two movies I don't care a whole lot about but finish up the series. If the set makes sense, like the TMNT movies (I wants) I might get it.

It's the random movie collections that really have no place on my shelf. I'd much prefer buy the individual case no matter how much I want one of those movies. Heck, it was cheaper to buy Se7en with with the triple feature set, yet I paid $5 or $10 more for the Digibook instead.

I have several second-tier titles that I have bought in multi-packs on DVD, like those horrid SyFy Maneater films. The only one I have bought on Blu is the Beetlejuice/Charlie & the Chocolate Factory/Corpse Bride set. I wanted Beetlejuice, and I was in a pawn shop where they had the 3 movie set for $5, so I grabbed that. I had no interest in "Charlie" or "Corpse Bride," but found I actually did enjoy "Charlie," so it worked out well

I also agree. The only double features I own so far are:

Fantasia / Fantasia 2000
Pocahontas / Pocahontas II: Journey to a New World
The Fox and the Hound / The Fox and the Hound 2

I own the Se7en, Copycat and Taking Lives Triple Feature pack. For me, it made sense to pick this up because I love Se7en and Taking Lives and never had them in my collection. Although, the digibook was available for Se7en, I felt this was a better value. To my surprise, this pack has the individual discs from each of the 3 movies so the P/Q was great. This is my first triple/double pack so I am not sure if this is the same for all movies but I really did like that each movie was in their own disc.

I don't do it if its 2 or 3 random movies that aren't related packaged together. I will if its a sequel, trilogy or franchise set, such as Superman/Superman II/Superman Returns
