Yeah, I don’t get why part 3 always gets so much shit. It’s like I get it went the slasher route of having Pinhead the main focus this time but it’s a really fun movie to watch. I prefer it over the second movie.

So I guess "brand new 2K restoration…" is just leftover from spec list for the previous release?

And it says Leviathan is a "brand new version" -- so that makes me wonder, too. I know there's plenty of material from that doc for them to add in or adjust.

I have no idea. Just the wording in this release has me wondering.

Frank's uncut death was in the unrated cut of Hellbound and was reinserted in the German box set release.

You are correct. Franks Uncut death was never meant for inclusion in Hellraiser. It's always been utilized during the opening credits of Hellbound. The German release inserted it into the first film, and it works there, but it was never intended to be used there.

I was always under the impression that Frank's death was trimmed by the MPAA, but that they'd managed to sneak it into the flashback in Hellbound? Hence why Barker gave his approval for it to be reinserted into the original film on the German BD?

Would be nice, but Lionsgate seems to be allergic to catalog releases. Maybe their Vestron label will do something with it.

Also, their barebones set of the bad DTV sequels omitted Part 7 for some reason.

According to an Arrow rep on their Facebook page, both discs announced today are the same as the ones on the Trilogy set.

Don't forget that there's also the infamous "uncut hammer scene" (although never intact in any version I believe) that can be found only from unrated trailer. Cutting that very scene is one those decisions that I really don't understand why they did it? It's been haunting me since the LaserDisc era when I first saw it. Very short, but absolutely brutal scene.
